Anonymous Coward User ID: 80146357 United States 09/19/2022 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I mean generally the reviews are pretty honest. you can usually smell the scam vendors from a mile away this was years ago, but when I was selling, the money was essentially in escrow until a given time. someone paid you, but it was at least 3 days min to “physically” access the money given the nature of our world, I find the idea entirely possible if not extremely likely |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80754156 09/19/2022 11:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Since Ebay changed the way Sellers get paid a certain portion of people wait for the money you paid to be available on their account before shipping. 24 pass before your money is cleared, then time pass to the next window of payment to the seller account, then it can take from few hours to days to have it on the account. |

Well, then I guess you are fortunate. It pays to know every detail prior to orders. The one instance that stands stark in my mind right now with relevance to this thread, is a cheaply made envelope I received, without my item. So yeah.......I was shilted. I pressed the matter. Thankfully I received a refund. but that isn't the focus. it's the time fram that is. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80754156 09/19/2022 11:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What op describe is what PayPal does and what Ebay is doing now ..but it cannot be done by sellers...first it will require to have hundreds of thousands of transaction to be feasible while you will have your account blocked if so many transactions go wrong. Just very few will get your account flagged. |

FRAUDSTERS EVOLVE. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84144208 United States 09/19/2022 11:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't you check seller feedback? Only got burned one time, but it was my fault, the seller's name was a version of all as is, and I didn't check the feedback. Over 100 successful deals since. There have been a couple of hiccups, but resolved quickly and with complete satisfaction, better than I really expected. I get everything in 3-5 days with free shipping. One purchase from chiner took longer, boats are slow. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79922100 Mexico 09/20/2022 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's weird, I always had 1-day or same-day shipping when I sold on eBay I heard eBay's really tightened the leash on sellers. From what I recall the funds you get from a sale are delayed a few business days, whereas in the past you would get funds instantly. That includes the shipping cost. That can cause a huge logistics headache if you're running a larger business. There are scammers in the past that were able to rip off a ton of people, but that has to be done in an extremely short time frame. Just a handful of negative feedbacks can wreck your account. They did favor big sellers from china for some time, but in general eBay does not fuck around if you're a small-time seller and ripping off a bunch of people. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79922100 Mexico 09/20/2022 12:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The problem is the return policy for eBay and PayPal. They will usually refund the buyer “no questions asked*” and after a few stings most people don’t have the stomach to continue being sellers. Which leaves room for scammy sellers. Quoting: nwo_watcher_911 Yeah, you need to have A+ customer service and shipping and even if you're perfect with those things you'll always have a few assholes that destroy your search rankings. I'm glad I bailed out of that platform when I did, they've turned draconian and the employees are leftist psychos |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80643549 United States 09/20/2022 12:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped using ebay. A seller sent me a pair of shoes that disintegrated with one step. I took pictures and wanted a full refund. The seller said he would refund the cost of shoes alone if I paid return shipping. He wanted me to pay $20 (total shipping cost) for absolute garbage. Eventually, he sent me a return label and refunded all my money. But no thanks to ebay, which always sided with the seller. Forget it. Worthless site and customer service. |

Now it is full of cheap Chinese Tat always flagrantly misleading description on products. As well as completely lying about seller Address. Ebay dont seem to give a shit that a seller will say he is UK based and be lying. You only realise you have been duped when you get a 11 day shipping itinerary. If a seller is telling you he wont ship until payment has cleared that isa big No,no. Means the crafty twat is wanting the money cleared by Paypal for no good reason, other than he wants the money.. Paypal hangs on to it to prevent fraud. This is a way to circumvent restrictions. Both seller/buyer have an insurance guarantee if a purchase is done correctly. If the seller is wanting the money cleared likely he is out to try and scam eBay, and you. You will get refunded months later, it is a pain though. Dogsbollocks |

Drove to three different stores, walked half a mile in them and they were all out. The whole ordeal took three hours of my day plus gas. I ordered it on ebay and it was in my mail box three days later. It's all about what you would rather spend your time on. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84144208 United States 09/20/2022 01:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't buy from sellers with sketchy feedback, you can even search the item within the feedback to see if there are complaints. Randomly picking the lowest price is the best way to get screwed. Seller's, if you have good feedback, charge a bit more for the item, it will sell. Don't profit on shipping. I always get free shipping anyway. |

User ID: 82001741 United States 09/20/2022 01:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So, I noticed a lot of Ebay sellers don't ship until five days after purchase. Quoting: Os76* For someone that pays with PayPal, the purchase happens instantly. The thing is.........if you order the item, a lot of times it won't reach you. It will be lost in the mail. You will receive a package without the content or, numerous other issues will occur. The point of this........the time it takes to issue a refund. If someone is gaming the system.......they may be doing it in a massive way. They might be doing this to many, many individuals at once. If they can get the money to sit in a high interest account with numerous individuals all at once and give it enough time for the interest to kick in before refunding those who raise issue, then they could be gaming the system. Half of the people just let it go.....so not only do the thieves gain the money, but that money helps compound interest on the account. Is this possible? It seems plausible....... What prevents this from happening? Time is the factor........ right? Sellers that don’t ship for 5 days don’t last. I never have the issues you are describing with getting my packages. Do you live in an apartment? USPS has been slow but with all the tracking requirements eBay has, this just seems ridiculous. Good luck. Valvictoria |

And they have no means of communication. Sketchy but they will still accept returns. |
