The United States has privately warned the Russian leadership of the catastrophic consequences of using nuclear weapons in the conflict in Ukraine, American presidential national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in an interview with NBC television. "We have directly privately conveyed to the Russians at a very high level that the consequences would be catastrophic if they used nuclear weapons in Ukraine. We were frank with them and stressed that the U.S. would respond strongly with our allies and partners," he said, while declining to provide any details. [link to ria.ru (secure)] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84148845 United States 09/25/2022 03:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It’s my opinion that Russia has economic reasons to NOT use nuclear weapons. This reason is that Ukraine is an agricultural breadbasket. Nuclear fallout could render the agricultural areas toxic and not safe to farm. This would prevent Russia from producing food in their new territories and inhibit the potential financial/economic benefits. Just my opinion, I could be wrong but I hope not. |

"The Americans are escalating to save face. At the same time, Russia never said it would use nuclear weapons. It is unclear what they meant by their accusations. At the same time, no Western sanctions have changed Russia's position since the beginning of the EWS, which has been solving its problems to the end. The U.S. is supplying weapons to Kiev, solving its own tasks, including those of its military-industrial complex," Vyborny said. [link to ria.ru (secure)] it's true, isn't it? "President [Vladimir] Putin does not have to threaten nuclear war, we hear him. An attack on Russia is an attack on Africa!" - he wrote on Twitter. This is how Kainerugaba commented on Putin's words about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons to defend the country. The Russian president spoke about this when announcing a partial mobilization in the country on September 21. He said then that representatives of NATO countries use "nuclear blackmail" and allow the use of nuclear weapons against Russia. Putin recalled that Russia also possesses such weapons. "To protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all means at our disposal. This is not a bluff," he said, warning those who threaten Russia with nuclear weapons that "the wind rose may also turn in their direction." [link to www.rbc.ru (secure)] |

The organizers planned to assemble about five thousand demonstrators, but about three thousand people took part in the rally. It is specified that Lubmin is the landfall point of the two gas pipelines: Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2. Earlier, the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Stefan Weil said that the Russian military actions in Ukraine undermined trust between Berlin and Moscow, so the commissioning of the Russian gas pipeline "Nord Stream-2" is ruled out. "Nord Stream 2" runs from the Leningrad region of Russia to the Baltic coast of Germany. At the moment both strings of the pipeline are filled with gas and ready for operation. However, German authorities in February 2022 stopped the process of certification of the pipeline. [link to lenta.ru (secure)] |
