Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn we've had so many cats over time, 17 at one time in my childhood on our orchard. and yes you can, not every cat, I'm not sure our Miss Tiggy will ever comply. Spookums, our black and white patches male, he's wonderful. He would rarely kill, he only wants to play. He does take them in the house, bats sometimes, a huge fat pheasant that we put in that cage last week. I walked out of my bathroom and saw this dead bird on the floor, it was truly playing dead, head stretched out, legs stretched out, looked dead. But the minute I turned my back it tried to fly and run to my bedroom, so my son finally got in a cage, we fed it and next day noticed it seemed fine, so released it in the bushes. Spookums loves to play but really is gentle and never wants to harm animals or birds if he can. he wants to be every creatures friend, since he was a kitten. He's about 7 now. The others, more indoor cats. Little outings. Its 3 that are outdoor. I'm sure you're right about Miss Tiggy though, she is a flying squirrel, not literally, but seriously she seems to spread out her fluffy legs, she a fluffy calicol, and glide like a kite from branch to branch, bird hunting, fastest hunter on earth practically and deadly. But going to do our best. As I said, you need your head examined :) Actually find people who tolerate this dog eat dog world in need of help mentally. Just so you know. (OP) User ID: 84193331 Canada 09/16/2022 02:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So cat was chasing a baby mouse, eyes open stage, but unfortunately if it was an adult and had our live traps, it would be put outside in the bushes or released at the creek and we are going to purchase live traps again for that purpose. Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn Feeding to my cat is not something I want to witness, I denounce and renounce this loosh farm, this abusive barbaric dog eat dog world, forever. Never will change my mind as I point out in my prayers, since childhood, and underscore this to infinity and beyond forever! So we have the baby mouse in a bird cage with tape around the bottom, some paper towel, some ripped up sheet, a little rolled oats and cheese. I had baby formula for my grandson and am trying to get it used to my hands and to a paintbrush. It will probably die. But this will be ongoing problem obviously, its not the first baby mouse we've encountered, the other got away. If, and it has a slim chance only, it lives, I don't want a pet mouse, and once used to you, you can't just release at the creek. So I came up with this idea and found it online: [link to www.funotic.com (secure)] Creating outdoor mice friendly homes in along your fence and training cats gradually to not kill mice. Creating some in the woods too, so you can release mice to the little homes. Putting feathers for bedding. Dropping off food. But How To Instantly Kill A Mouse Humanely? Could a taser kill a mouse instantly? Is there something other than mashed potatoes, poison, squishing traps, that would instantly kill a mouse? Ok, I'll bite: why did you put tape on the baby mouse's bottom? lol. no its a bird cage and found out it can get out, so taped around the outside of the cage, two rows of ducktape basically. Just put the baby mouse outside, away from cats, and let nature take its course. Don’t try to be god. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74924486 My cats bring home half dead mice all the time. I used to quickly finish off the mice with a stone, but don’t anymore. I will take the mice away from he cats, and let them die or heal outside, away from the cats. I have this huge main coon who likes to kill rabbits. When there gone, I won’t be getting more cats. Thinking this may end up being the solution. Bigger ones we do that with, but the babies are harder. Thats why I think maybe a mouse house, against the fence in the garden, half under the ground half out, could be arranged. But we may just release it. Thank you for thoughtful advise. This one isn't injured, seems to have no injuries. It’s hard, I know, for thinking, feeling and caring people. I admit, the mouse house sounds cute as hell, but you have to draw the line somewhere. My ex used to keep rats or whatever they are called. She got them at the pet store. These rats had personalities, and were loving and affectionate. It was quite shocking, really. Good luck |

Thank you, yes, we do that on the occasion for the bigger mice, when the cat hasn't mangled them badly. My son has even caught mice and put them in cages and taken them to the creek. He's faster than a mouse half the time. But this one is separated from its family, we don't know where it is, and its a baby eyes just barely opened stage. It won't survive that, soon, if it lives. I would rather there was a humane way of instant kill that doesnt hurt it. But anyway, what an awful world we live in. Despite all the beauty, this stuff can't handle. I don't want to hurt anything. You knit him a sweater of shedded cat's hairs and you make sure it stays warm in winter and cool in summer. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84026375 1. I sleep at night plus its eyes are open so it is not requiring quite that amount of milk. 2. So every few hours try to use a paintbrush dipped in baby formula and try to not get it up its nose to drown it, but it is not yet cooperating, have a little milk on a flat lid too, its eating a bit. It may die but I'm doing my best to help it. Aw, you're a good woman, OP! |

The mouse house idea as a kind of half way house to give them a real chance instead of having a pet mouse if it lives, to me is cute as hell and what we are going to do because it doesn't have to be harsh, it can be inbetween in a sense. But won't keep it as a pet. Have heard they're adorable, emotional, good moms, but my cats are the easiest pets for me to watch over. The Devil tries to convince everyone he doesn't exist. Home on a 3rd acre, beautiful garden and tons of vegetables, far more than we can eat. Gorgeous trees, and cherry trees, lilac bushes, cedar hedge, tons of grass that requires constant mowing. Was told it was one of the nicest properties in my town despite it being an older home. We bought it as a miracle price years ago and bought it for the yard. My father reroofed it, we fixed the septic and well several times. Still has work to do but thats OK. A bit of a horder though, true. I am doing recycle projects, paper mache and recycle coffee cans, etc. Did you know that you can put the organic kraft dinner sizes boxes together, into a piece of lumber, and then paper mache them and build, in my case, spinning wheels, and looms as gifts for people, any number of harnesses you want. Did you know you can create just about anything. But we have a few boxes and shelves in the basement laundry room for what I hoard. Quoting: Yardman You need to let this mouse go. His mother is frantic. Can't. he would be killed by the cats except for one. She's either alive hidden who knows where in the house, or dead and Miss Tiggy already killed that family. This mouse needs to be put outside in a mouse transition house in a month or so. I'm going to get my son to build something. Its chance of actually surviving is slim from what I researched, so its kind of in God's hands right now, but I am not going to kill it, doing all I can to keep it warm, cozy, food, it likes rolled oats best so far, have tried cheese, peanut butter and rolled oats, and taco shells crushed. It loves rolled oats. And managed finally to get the paint brush dipped in baby formula in its mouth a couple times, it had a bath in the lid full of baby's formula and got wet, so dried it with kleenexes and put more piece of sheet in there so it had a dry dark place to hide. I won't kill it, will try to save it, but its got to go outside hopefully to some kind of transition house for mice that my son can create. Also, intend to buy some live traps, we have some regular ones for drawers, but live ones in general, and will release big mice at the creeks off our property. There is a farm close to there, and I'm sure that ranch will just love us. Last Edited by Sungaze_At_Dawn on 09/16/2022 05:43 PM The Devil tries to convince everyone he doesn't exist. So if its big, just over a hundred and save a thousand. Hording for projects is kind of interesting. Will be doing some recycle and paper mache stirling engines next and if I could, solar panels as well.
