Lot of shady stuff goes on at OK Co. Jail. Very crooked. Torture, mob hits, neglect. Everything is allowed. Last winter they refused to turn on the heat. This isn't a penitentiary. It's county jail.

I'm very disheartened that the deaths have not seemed to slow down after the management of it was removed from the County Sheriff a couple of years ago. The current sheriff seems okay, republican guy, but the previous one before him was a dem who oversaw this nonsense for 20+ years before finally resigning (I suspect under threat of indictment if he didn't go peacefully but this was never reported - the DA was known to actually prosecute official corruption).

Now we've voted to use - I think - COVID funds to build an entirely new jail. I'm not sure I believe that will make conditions better considering the inability to bring this death rate down even still. Very upsetting situation that has unfortunately continued for decades now. They really need to get their shit together if they wanna be a big league city in a top 10 state.

Fuck em’. Baby shark should be played in repetition in every penitentiary in the country.

It’s simple. Don’t commit crimes. Jail isn’t supposed to be a country club. Don’t like it? Don’t commit crimes.

It really is. Let's be honest, 14 dead people so far this year is not normal. Or at least it shouldn't be. It's probably on par with the previous 2 decades.

This is simply not fair. I'm not one of these rainbow-haired libs, so hear me out. Some of the inmates housed are only accused of crimes, they have not yet been convicted. And they are entitled to a safe pre-trial environment. Furthermore, even those that have been convicted of a crime, no matter how heinous, are still entitled to conditions that do not result in their untimely death. A conviction that leads to time in county jail is likely not a death sentence, and even if it is some convict that's on death row but not sent to Big Mac yet, yes, even that convict has a right not to be subjected to conditions that may result in death prior to their execution.
