That it made them grow super fast. But I havn't had a chance to verify that, and don't have access to clay atm. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77701426 incorrect. clay based soils sequester nutrients and prevent them from being made available to the plant |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82717426 I've had moderate success on my first attempt this year with potatos from scraps in canvas bags, plants not doing well in this heat tho, they looked fantastic just a few weeks ago now they drying out fast. I grew potatoes in my house this year under grow lights with a fan running a little while each day. I got the seeds at Home Depot. From seed to harvest was about 4 months. They were really good. I already ate them all. I should have used a few for seeding because the ones I seeded last year from organic potaotes did not produce any fruit. The plant grew but no potatoes. |

Once you detach the potatoes, do you need to replant all new seeds for a new potato plant, or can you leave the existing plant in the soil as is and new potatoes will regrow? |

Of course some fruit like pears or cherries have to be grafted if you want tasty fruit as a result. I've successfully grown my own chilly peppers and tomatoes from seeds from vegetables I bought at the local green market. Pretty much everything can be grown this way if you know what you're doing and if you have adequate conditions. aka N.O.S. |
