i'm putting a greenhouse over the top of my air-source heat pump, swear to god the thing is designed to needlessly burn electricity all winter, attempting to remove energy from freezing air, it works but cost's a bloody fortune to run, good thread :)

I remember when me and my wife were young and poor. We'd stay nude under the blankets and do it as much as we could. This is good advice for Europe. That continent is losing native population. They need to have more babies. Doing this will also keep you warm.

My top version of how to do it 2 fold: biofuels replacing gas and oil for vehicles and for some furnaces.

Also electrical production, for example low wind turbines, just enough to run heat in a soundproofed closet where you have 30 or more little stirling engines made from trash, that you made, you can remake as needed, that together generate kw's/hour of power.

Really time to take our power back from these tyrants.

In practical terms there are 2 routes. One is electrical. As long as you've emp proofed your panel and some of your generating ability, then its clean.

Biofuel, ie oil or diesel engines.


What is most important is readily available materials, ease of construction, cost.


There are so many ideas, so many types.

Europe don't freeze this winter! And look after your shut in neighbors.


Build for yourself and for the elderly and those who can't build for themselves. Win/win.


I think in every town there should be several successful competing businesses that create energy from trash basically, and raffle off prizes and wins, sell tickets, teach workshops.

That aren't just in it for the money, but for the community.

Not just credit cards, but the old fashioned lay away.

This winter people need to keep warm and do it fast.

They're probably going to have lots of house fires doing desperate things.

That needs to be avoided as much as possible.

For the price of a new car, you can be energy independent with batteries, inverter and a charging array.

Supplementing a solar array, a gravity generator is not dependent upon the weather. Indeed, a clever design uses a ram pump to elevate water to the top of the tower.

Then there is concentrated solar thermal (my preference) which has the flexibility to freeze and heat as well as distill water and make methanol/ ethanol fuels.

Ridiculous!

The USA and Canada are sitting on the world's largest proven reserves of natural gas, plus an incredible amount of oil to boot.

All this green energy bullshit is pathetic.
