Question for Law Enforcement GLPers.. Do Those Stickers Showing Donation Save Us Fom A Citation?

honestly the true answer is NO.

The only way to get off with a warning is to be polite and cooperative .Less paper work .
Is a good thing. Unless someone called the police and complained then you have a problem.

Other ways is if your coaching their kids Doing voluntary work for the community , belong to the town commity.Wife and or friends have connections with the arresting officer .Or are a heavy hitter like 87 YEAR OLD SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. It sucks when The Sergeant calls to let them tell you to simply give them a warning.. Usually on their personal phones.

A sticker shouldn't matter. Just like Paul Pelosi's 'get out of jail' card. Break the law, get cited.

BTW, OP, LEOs (unless active duty military) are also 'civilians'.

Nope. You'd probably get wood. Donating to some organization that ISN'T run by actual LE doesn't mean a thing.

By me, there is a PBA and FOP. Both are LE run unions. THOSE courtesy cards get some cred, and I'd almost never write a ticket for one. The only times I'd hand out a ticket with one of those organization's cards is if you were a dick or had no idea who gave you the card - ie. you bought it.

Same with stickers. We'd send out stickers every year during our fund drive. EVERYONE got a sticker in the mail, even if you did not donate. Since everyone had one, they were not special at all.

Pro tip: Don't be a douche bag when you get pulled over. Admit what you did and apologize if you feel the need.

I was a traffic cop for 10 years and legit HATED writing tickets. People made my job easy by being dicks and they got the wood, while I got my quota.

The cities are a lost mess, good luck if you live there.

But if you get out of the cities and into small communities, you learn that you don't need "cops". They could never get there in time to help you anyways.

Small communities that are rural or remote police themselves. They network, you know who to call if you can't handle it yourself - and it's a private citizen.

Only in the case of something very extreme would you get the authorities involved who are 50 miles away.

You are correct. Dont Forget about the Constable in your area. Been one for 15 years.Yes we are a joke but have arresting rights. Most carry. Usually most are retired police officers.

No one is asking you to genuflect, but a little respect might help you out. Contempt just makes things easier for the guy with the pen to crush out a bunch of paper and hand it to you.
