Several years ago someone posted what the SDR basket of currencies was really going to be. Supposedly, according to this in the know poster, the SDR will consist of:

Dollar - 20%
Euro - 20%
Yen - 20%
Yuan - 20%
Gold - 20%

But that never transpired. If it did, the dollar would be cut 75% of it's value, going from 2/3rds of all currency to 20%

So I think the BRICs will be similar, where each nation pays in a lower percentage as more nations join up. If there were 5 nations in BRICS their currencies would all have equal weighting with gold so 6x = 100%

x = 16.7%
