Was Nixon setup as cover for Demonrat crimes the same way Russiagate was meant to take down Trump and provide cover for Hillary?

Seeing how all this shit went down with Trump and the Russia Russia Russia lies that the MSM pumped out 24/7 for years makes me question what really happened to Nixon. Woodward and Bernstein revealed themselves to be lying dirtbags with all the Russiagate lies. Why should we assume they were telling the whole truth about Watergate? It seems plausible that it was all a cover for Demonrat crimes and Nixon took the fall because he wasn't a fighter like Trump.





Watergate is usually considered shorthand for a story about five burglars at the offices of the Democratic National Committee, caught in the midst of a covert operation to impact the outcome of the 1972 presidential election. Yet the reality of the case is something vastly larger than history’s shorthand: a story that began long before the break-in—which occurred 50 years ago this spring—and a cover-up that extended long after the original burglary.

Where it gets trickier is whether the burglars were playing offense or defense in their operation. Were they trying to uncover dirt on the Democrats or find out what dirt the Democrats had amassed on Nixon and his team? While there’s no shortage of intel the burglars may have hoped to uncover, speculation in the years since has generally focused on three separate theories—one about financial improprieties and the upcoming Democratic convention in Miami, another on sexual blackmail, and a third about illegal foreign campaign donations.

The most straightforward “hidden dirt” theory is that the burglars were ultimately looking for both financial improprieties as well as trying to uncover any nefarious plans the Democrats might have had to disrupt the Republican convention, possibly mirroring plots that the Nixon campaign operation, CREEP (the Committee to Re-elect the President) had been gaming out.

So, what might the burglars have been digging for? Some theorized that the break-in was tied to a high-priced D.C. escort service that figured luridly in contemporaneous news reports. Under this theory, officials visiting the Democratic National Committee headquarters, who would want to arrange hookups with escorts, could go into an out-of-the-way office, view a selection of photos kept under lock and key, and then arrange liaisons by phone. Were the burglars trying to gather this type of evidence?

A third theory about the secrets hidden inside the DNC centers around illegal foreign campaign finances. According to later questioning, the Cuban-born burglars, some of whom spoke little English and seemed genuinely befuddled by the purpose of the whole mission, believed they had been recruited to uncover the Democratic Party’s links to Fidel Castro, but the evidence that has since emerged shifted instead toward shadowy contributions to Nixon’s own campaign.
