some supper and then Jeries? boyfriend came up and then Elba's and Eva's sailor Beaux? and me all came down to my house. We played the piano and sang and danced until about 10:30 and then went downstairs and had some ?? claret punch that I made and what do you know. I feed Walter (Elba's friend) his out of ?? right ?? babies bottle with a nipple on it. On new year's night when I saw them

the rest of the sentence is undecipherable. lol

Yeah, I can read it but it's pretty mundane shit, to be honest.. but still kinda cool to take a glimpse 100 years back in time.

Pretty sure I can read most of it, but I need to get on the computer to do so.

Didn't you learn cursive writing in school?

This afternoon when the bell rang. i went down and opened the door and there was Ella an Eva. They came in for a few minutes and then we went over to the photo graph and brought Ella's proofs back. We walked over to fight avenue and 42nd street and back to Ella's home. ...? Mother gave us.

It’s talking about A party and who was there at five o’clock. I can read those. Some words are pretty bad. It’s confusing bring out of order.

Simple. Here I'll read the first part for you.

"There was Ella ans Eva. They came in for a few minutes and then we went over to the photographer and brought Ella's proofs back. We walked over to right ? and 42nd street and back and then up to Ella's house.

this afternoon when the bell rang. I went down and answered the door and there was Ella and Eva. they came in for a few minutes and then we all went to the photographer and brought Ella’s proofs back. we walked over to right ave and 42nd st "…………..

the rest is too sloppy for me.

Thanks for what you can see so far because I can't understand any of it. What about all the other pages though? Anyone understand the one in blue ink? I tried to take the pictures in 1/4th of a page at a time in most. They don't seem to have uploaded in perfect order.

i find this easy to read ! try my fathers letters if you think that is hard lol.

tip search for the vowels A-E-I-O-U , HE DOES his e like mine a back to front 3 ,look at the address on the letter and study it for a while ,that letter is not hard to read ,

I am dyslexic but people are shocked at my hand writing they expect a scrawl like the letter you posted but i can do very neat and write with both hands

Did you take those photos?

Would it have been too much trouble to back off a little to show whole pages that weren't clipped.

Because of that it is confusing to piece together.

Basically it's a person describing time with friends including Ellen and Eva. They did some walking about town and picked up photographers photo proofs. Later were at home and played the piano and then made hot claret punch.

I worked in a pharmacy for many years and could actually read doctor's prescriptions.
 Quoting: G. House

Yep, they got supper with Ella and Eva's sailor beaux(?) then went back to the writer's house where they played the piano, sang, and danced until 10:30 There's mention of hot claret punch and the writer fixing Walter's punch in an eight ounce baby's bottle. Lol

It sure is a beautiful piece of work and I want to thank you again for sending it to me. Oh Jimmie I forgot to tell you Mrs. Lantner(?) was down too. But she isn’t feeling well. Oh Jimmie dearest how I miss you. I love you so much Jimmie so….much that I don’t know how to say it but neither speech nor writing can ever tell you just how much it is. I love you.

I’m sad that we have to decipher cursive. I can read it and I still love to write in cursive, it’s beautiful. I’m 48, not super ancient yet. I still do math in my head. So glad I got to grow up when I did, away from all the cell phones, video games and common core/crt/37 thousand gender whatever. Kids are learning nothing except how to change their gender, absolutely horrifying

There’s something about calligraphy. I find it a form of art. Many schools have reintroduced it after years of stopping due to guise of being ‘outdated’.

Or count back change. It boggles my mind when someone doesn't know how to count change back....heh, you just count back the amount.

I've had to explain this "trick" to a few cashiers....rolleyes

'So I gave you $5 for a $4.63 bill, right?....that's two pennies for me, and will bring it up to $4.65, right?....so then add a dime, $4.75, right?....and now a quarter, to make it to $5, right?....which gives me back my change. And you're welcome.'

She's telling Jimmie how much she misses him, especially now that her two girlfriends have taken up with "sailor tramps."

Why this song, "P.S., I Love You," was written. Back when letters were written because long distance phone calls were prohibitively expensive.

Me too. I write practically everything in cursive and I'm in my 30s. Both my sister and I would get comments on our cursive back in college. Even then, some people would be all "What are you writing?!" when they'd see notes and such. It's sad that it's a dying art. Mine does get sloppy when I'm in a rush but I still enjoy it.

This afternoon whenthe bell rang. I went down and opened the door and there was Ella and Eva. They came in for a few minutes and then we all went over to the photographs and bought Ella’s proofs back. We walked over to right…

Some supper and then Ferdies boy friend came up and then Ella’s and Eva’s sailor beaux and we all came down to my house. We played the piano and sang and danced until about 10:30 and then went down stairs and had some hot claret

Enough wasn’t it div? I really hope though for his mothers sake that he does not get put ashore in Constantinople. That’s where they were when he wrote. She would be more at ease and satisfied if he were back in the states even if he weren’t home and I should think that after 25 months…

I have no problem reading any of them.

That handwriting is dogshit, nothing to do with it being cursive. I have letters my great grandmother wrote as a teenager and they're a million times better than this.
