Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84032089 Coal being delivered to the coal cellar. Rag and bone men collecting junk with a horse and cart. All the old people talked about the war with a warm glow in their eyes. Milk deliveries in electric carts. Those were the ones who spent the war in the home front, guarding the whorehouse or similar venue. The ones I knew who, like my father, were combat vets, had an entirely different look in their eyes when discussing the war. It was not warm in the least. |

I remember thinking that with a set up like that, I should be suspicious. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80928819 Finding old HVAC thermostats in the junk piles around town and playing with the liquid mercury... No wonder I have all kinds of health issues now as an adult... This. We would chase the mosquito fog trucks...probably DDT. In my 2nd grade class, firemen came in and talked about "miracle" asbestos fire coats and passed around racquetball sized globs of asbestos play dough for us to play with. Mercury too. Good times. |

It came with wires that you bent in the shape of flowers and dipped in toxic plastic. Cardboard records that you cut out on the back of a cereal box. Mini skirts with go-go boots, Nehru suits. I had both when I was 5. |

It was a precursor to the current denial of male and female genders by the brainwashed sheeple. Anyone else remember the Chicken Delight franchise in NYC during the 1960s? Still have one near Mom. She just bought a bucket last week (too hot to cook) and cried how much they went up since last month or so. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79706814 Squeezing a bit of the gunk and putting it on one end of the straw, it blew up to a small multi colored "ballon" that you could do nothing with, but look at. That's all I remember, lol. But I can still smell the horrid toxicity of the gunk. It was the mid to late '70s. Lol, have no idea why it was considered fun. I can only imagine what awful chemicals it contained. Omg, I loved that stuff. LOL, you could blow a little balloon. My big brother had one of those hot metal melting plates you could make your own plastic toys, like bugs and stuff LOL! I can still smell the smell of the toxic hot rubber. Oh! I had one of those but it was their edible version instead of plastic. Called Incredible Edibles. Hilarious! I had an Easy Bake Oven. The cakes were OK, but what I loved what making cheese and crackers in it. |

In it, there was this 8-track cartridge. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84032095 I had a deck in my room so needless to say, I listened to it quite a few times, almost wore out the tape. I don’t know what happened to the cartridge, was probably thrown out. I Never thought I would see or hear about it ever again, then a thread here a few days ago mentioned something about them. I stared searching the web and was able to track down and get the name of the one I had. Even more surprising, I discovered someone uploaded it online in great quality. I still remember that same artwork. It brings back a lot of memories listening to it now in my old age. Lean Strips fake bacon |

Got yelled at for waking up and playing with it at like 2 in morning. We literally had "A Christmas Story" on roids. My father did that BB gun trick on my bigger brother 10 years before the leg man did it in "A Christmas Story". The bully part was 'specially accurate. |

What I remember about the 70s. Shitty cars - Pintos, Gremlins and my parents waiting in line at gas stations. The postman wore a uniform, walked to each house and always delivered mail at around 11 am. I walked to and from school. This tv show: I remember 1976 July 4th was a huge deal, parades everywhere and everyone was patriotic. I remember this song and not knowing what they were talking about, just thought it was a silly song: |
