Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71375307 Seen it change from garbage bags being the brown paper bags from the supermarket (yuk!)to plastic bags. Telephone party lines and bakelite phones I wore nylons with a garter belt for a few yrs before pantyhose(wow!)came along. There were only like five brands of bath soap In that span between garter belt and pantyhose, our school dropped the dress code thanks to a long hair guy and his lawyer parents. So mini-skirts were de rigueur. The annoying thing, at least in my H.S. was that most chicks, slim or fat, wore girdles. Sonja treated us to views of stocking-tops and garters but most showed leg up to the girdle. ughh Warning: JustSomeGuy_42 is a publicly confessed unvaxxed neophiliac . Whites on one side, Blacks and very poor whites on the other side. They did not call them 'Blacks' back then. Hence the old phrase " you grew up on the wrong side of the tracks." I'm guessing south with the whites only. I have found videos of the 40s and 50s with black students in schools up north, dispelling what some claim that the north also segregated. User ID: 80193276 United States 08/19/2022 10:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember in the summer of ‘70, I was a young teen and I got box from my friend full of random stuff. In it, there was this 8-track cartridge. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84032095 I had a deck in my room so needless to say, I listened to it quite a few times, almost wore out the tape. I don’t know what happened to the cartridge, was probably thrown out. I Never thought I would see or hear about it ever again, then a thread here a few days ago mentioned something about them. I stared searching the web and was able to track down and get the name of the one I had. Even more surprising, I discovered someone uploaded it online in great quality. I still remember that same artwork. It brings back a lot of memories listening to it now in my old age. Big Daddy Don Garlits hot rod bubble gum cards. Bat kites. Wham-O toys like the monster bubble maker. Cool Mattel toys with 800 degree ovens and Plasti-goop to make Creepy Crawlers. Marx trains where the transformers would start smoking and catch on fire if you ran them at high speed too long. Lawn Darts, one of the best Darwin toys of the era. Record albums and 45s, cant wait for new ones. Clay skateboard wheels, wood boards. Ice cream man, candy cigs and dots. It rained more, yards were nice, trees to climb. Sun tan oil, long hair, fast food was a treat. Corning ware casseroles, clotheslines, church. Kids mowed lawns, threw newspapers and helped dad fix the car on weekends. Garage bands. Boys and girls were friends. Race didnt matter. Slumber parties. Horseback riding, cheap. Moms made dinner. It Was Lovely. Yes, clotheslines! Mom would hang everyhting out to dry. She had a bag thing that would hang in metal frame that folded up when not in use. You opened it up, then threw the wet clothes in there, then carried it out to the clothes line. It had a big baggy pocket on the side for the clothes pins. (wooden things with a split in them. You simply jammed them on and they sort of held. (before the spring type came along). The clothes would smell so fresh! I guess the Sun UV would kill any mold. Now we wear moldy clothes and add perfume fabric softener! :) Justme |

There sure was porn in that era, I remember it clearly! There were Stag Films or Stag Reels, there were many adult magazines or those adult mini novels you could buy at the grocery store, Playboy also came out in that decade There must have been sexual predators back then, but you never heard about them. Most of the dad's were WWII vets, and they would simply kill anyone harming kids. My dad was one scary SOB. The school used to be proud of beating kids to correct them. My dad went to the school when my older sisters started school and told them that if they ever so much as touched one of his kids, he would simply come to the school and beat them to death. Quoting: JustmeTX So basically your scary SOB dad goes from killing anyone harming kids, to threatening to harm kids if any of them touch his daughters? That would make him a child batter, a child abuser! Remember, many WWII vets, when they “conquered” an area and civilians were present, they would often “take” girls as young as 12yrs old... Its heavily documented that this type of thing did happen. I guess it’s what they call, “spoils of war”, but that’s ok, right? They’re still out to protect the children, huh? |

It all came in just a greyish-white container with black stripes and black lettering, and it was just "Peanut Butter," or "Chicken Soup," or "Orange Juice." I don't remember anyone ever buying it, but I remember a whole section in the supermarket. And, speaking of supermarkets, I remember being left alone in the car as a very young kid while my mother shopped (if I didn't want to go in with her). That would never happen now. |
