Re: My best friend is in the ICU with bleeding on his brain
Reason for dancing banana is because the dancing banana gets the most attention on the front page, I choose it out of habit.

The reason he fell out was because he was very drunk on tequila, I had just picked him up from the bar, he was visibly upset, and was venting about a lot of problems in his life. Before I could turn down my street, he tells me to pull over, and yells for me to stop the car. I turn down the street next to mine, and before I could stop he jumps out. Just jumps out...

Had no idea he had that kind of idea in his mind, I thought I could get him home and calm him down. He was just venting and visibly upset, which was nothing new. But this time he decided to jump.

I had no idea the severity of his injuries. Initially I thought maybe he had jumped out and was walking down the street, and the reason he did was because he did not want to go home. When I came back around to check on him he was out cold halfway in the street and on the side of the road.

I get him in my car, and he is completely out cold. I get him home and help him in the house. He continues to puke for the remainder of the night. By morning blood is continuously pouring out of his ear. I tell him he needs to go to hospital, but he refuses. Eventually we call 911, and get him in the ambulance.

The reason I think the family blames me is because they have failed to give me any information or updates regarding his condition. His brother flat out told me he thinks I'm lying, and that he demands answers.

I went to see him in the hospital, and he told the nurse no. So he is stable. He is conscious. And he is making progress. But this is all I know.

Our friendship is ruined. His sister has showed up at my home to get his stuff out of my house, which I obliged, and gathered all of his belongings. He has lived with me for close to a year now.

I don't know how I could be sued, when he jumped out on his own accord. Yes it was my vehicle, and yes I was driving. But how could I have stopped him from making the decision to jump out of a moving vehicle?

It sounds to me he made the wrong choice because he was intoxicated to the extreme. Either he did not know what he was doing at the time of the incident, or he had been harboring thoughts of self harm for some time.

I'm still in shock. Life seems surreal. Its like being in war, and fighting alongside your friend, only to see them hurt themselves, and now they are taken out of your life.

Hopefully this is a blessing in disguise, and that he gets the help that he needs through rehabilitation and sobriety. I hope he comes out stronger than before. But as for our friendship, I cannot allow him back into my home or my life. It has been too much trouble, and I don't need that when I am trying to get my life on track.

Looking back I see how much of a user and abuser he has been. He has his good qualities, but the bad far outweigh the good. I can see this now, where as before I was blind, and just trying to take care of someone I care about.

I was afraid to give too much information. I already spoke to the police and my story matches what he has said. But I don't think its over with.

If anything alcohol should be to blame. It is a destroyer, it took my mother away from me, it took my father. And now it has taken my best friend. I can't help but resort to prayer, and leave the issue in hands far greater than my own. God bless.

Re: My best friend is in the ICU with bleeding on his brain
Here is a little story: My friends coworker went out to the bar with his best friend. They have a few beers and leave. On the way home the guys best friend is in the passenger seat. He is kinda wild and decided to put his body out the window in the door and start yelling at someone? The driver reaches over to pull his stupid ass back in the truck to keep him from falling out the window I guess. As he reaches over he turns the steering wheel to the right and his best friend hanging out the window hits a a damn telephone pole damn nearly ripped his head off..killed instantly. Driver life is screwed. He gets the book thrown at him because he was over the DUI limit and gets charged with man slaughter. He gets a few years in jail. Wife divorced him he lost his really good job etc etc...fucked.

Re: My best friend is in the ICU with bleeding on his brain
I hate it. I hate alcohol with every fiber of my being. I wasn't drinking, and glad for it, because if I was, the incident probably could have been a lot worse for both of us. The dude is 51 years old, and is lucky to be alive. In hindsight I don't know what I could have done to prevent him from doing what he did to himself. I question my decisions, but ultimately these things have happened for a reason maybe some day I will understand. But it bothers me for the lack of disclosure, and all that has taken place after the fact. I love him dearly, but I don't think that he loves himself, and maybe he feels some level of shame for what he did. Not only to himself, but to me as well. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Like I said, maybe this is the wakeup call that he needs to better himself and find God, which is exactly what he needs. I don't judge him. And let it rest in the lord's hands. His will be done. These things happen. A lot of people are suffering right now and resort to the strong drink to alleviate their pain, only to increase it, unknowingly, ten fold.

He refused to let you see him in the hospital, so you don’t know if the family made choices to block you or if they are doing what he has requested. Perhaps him jumping out of the car had something to do with the relationship and his perception of it.

I’m sorry you are in this situation. Hopefully he recovers, and hopefully you continue to remember what you now realize about the relationship being not-so-good for you. Never forget that you wrote: Looking back I see how much of a user and abuser he has been. He has his good qualities, but the bad far outweigh the good. I can see this now, where as before I was blind, and just trying to take care of someone I care about.

Yeah, I see a lot of "not my fault" and a dancing banana, but not a lot of info about how someone "falls out" of a vehicle.

Broken seatbelt? Baja racer with no doors, perhaps?

Yeah the Dancing Banana and the fact that OP lied in the first post is very disrespectful to his friend and to us here.

Re: My best friend is in the ICU with bleeding on his brain
Please keep in your prayers. He ended up falling out of the vehicle while I was driving. Got a bad concussion. He may not ever be the same. I think his family blames me for what happened. They don't believe that he fell out of the car, and instead think I had something to do with it. Worried that they might seek retribution, even though I am in no way at fault. So keep us both in your prayers.

OP,
If Your Friend is in ICU and dies of his injuries, they will most likely charge you with involuntary-Manslaughter.
"You had Control of the Vehicle" You are responsible for the Occupants, just like a Ship Captain.

You sure You still want to keep that "Dancing Banana" going here?
