Dr. Roger Nelson directs the Global Consciousness Project at Princeton University. The GCP was created in 1997 by a group of researchers working in the boundary areas of physics and psychology. It has grown to include over 100 scientists, artists, and others around the world.

The purpose of GCP is to examine subtle correlations that may reflect the presence and activity of consciousness in the world. We maintain a network of physical random number generators (RNG) designed for and used in research showing human consciousness can affect random systems under controlled conditions.

Dr. Roger Nelson conducted psi research at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) laboratory from 1980 to 2002 and, while at Princeton, created the GCP in 1997. Interests in psychology, physics, philosophy, and the arts facilitate his research at the edges of what we know. His focus is the subtle interconnections that define an emerging humanity.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS PROJECT

The Global Consciousness Project (GCP ) maintains a long-term experiment that investigates the
possiblity of a subtle connection between the collective mental activity of humans and the physical
behavior of systems in the surrounding environment. The Project formulates this proposition as a broad
hypothesis that relates the output of true random number generators (RNGs) to times of intense, collective
mental attention in the world:

Periods of collective attention or emotion in widely distributed populations will correlate with
deviations from expectation in a global network of physical RNGs.

The GCP network consists of approximately 60 hardware RNGs installed on computers at local nodes
throughout the world. The RNGs use quantum fluctuations in electronic circuits to generate bit-streams
which are highly stable and therefore, within conventional interpretations of quantum mechanics, truly
random. Once per second, at each local node, 200 consecutive bits are collected, summed and timestamped. The trial sums, which nominally follow a binomial distribution with N=200 and p=½, are uploaded at regular intervals to a data archive in Princeton, NJ, USA. The network has been in continuous
operation since August 1998 and the 15-year data archive currently holds more than 23 billion data trials.

So I was just telling my daughter the energy felt exceptionally heavy so she went to check the dot and it is not.

Didn't see an official report on the GCP website, but it appears that about 1/4 of the RNG "eggs" on their network have fallen out of communication and are either reading as inactive or not sending any current RNG data to the Dot. Given the wide range of locations and IP addresses of the affected computers, it might have been a cyberattack or a problem with their tier 3 ISP, as they use a network specialized for communication between universities and research laboratories.
