i mean it is good that you filter and boil your water but there may be something in it that just wont cook away or be filtered you know...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 348468

When you boil city water, it only concentrates the fluoride and chlorine!

You need to drink distilled water, as it is the steam vapor from boiled water.

And as far as filters go, none eliminate fluoride unless it specifically says it does, as it is in a "gaseous" state in the water and you need an aluminum type filter to get it out.

Now, there'll be some bozo come along and tell you that distilled water is "acidic" and indeed it is - about a pH of 4.5 - 5.0....

This can be remedied with just a pinch of baking soda into the gallon! Brings it up to a 7 or 8.

Exercise is the best treatment.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 393529

Wrong, wrong advice. Exercise makes a lot of people worse with this condition especially if you have CFS also. You have to exercise very lightly. Don`t ever do hard aerobics because it will take you a month to recover from that. I walk, stretching and a little yoga.

There are lots of really good support sites on the web. It really helps alot to have others to talk to that have the same thing.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
When you received the diagnosis did they test your vitamin D level first and rule out a vitamin D deficiency? The test is called 25-hydroxy-vitamin D and a low level in our body can present like the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Google 'vitamin D deficiency.'

You don't need to go to a doctor to have the test done. There are independent labs in most cities that perform routine blood tests. Good luck to you.

Yes that why I have to take 50,000 mg of Vitamin D a week.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 379694

I also would like to add that a Vitamin B6 deficiency can cause big time problems. This deficiency causes weakness in the muscles, muscle pain and difficulty in walking. As I understand it, if you go on a B6 regimen it can take 4-6 weeks or more to correct the problem. You also need to remember to include all your other B's while taking B6 ... PLUS YOUR CALCIUM AND VIT. D.

ALSO, THANK YOU TO THE PERSON THAT GAVE US INFORMATION ON MYCOPLASMA. Who gives the Military the okay to do all these dastardly deeds anyway? The President? ... or doesn't he know what's going on.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
I've had fibro for years and these are the things that have helped me.

The stomach problems were eliminated when I went on a gluten free diet. No more diarrhea, gas pains, etc. and what a relief that is.

There's a wonderful book "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies that has been my biggest help. People with fibro get knots in their muscles and this book tells exactly how to rub them out which eliminates that particular pain spot. It's not expensive either. Amazon has it.

Over doing the exercise will put you on the couch moaning for a week, so don't believe that one for a minute. You do feel better with movement though, so if nothing else walk around the house or yard a lot. With a new baby you'll probably get plenty of movement.

I drink a small glass of brandy to help me sleep. It takes the nervous energy down a few notches and relaxes my muscles. Flexeril is an extremely depressing drug. I would avoid that one for sure. If your doctor will give you pain medication, definitely take it. You can feel almost normal some days. Beware elavil. That stuff made my heart beat a million miles a second, plus it causes weight gain.

The brain fog kind of went away after a couple of years. Not sure why. Maybe the brain recircuits itself. Not sure. If I'm extremely tired though, I can't function properly.

Don't scare yourself to death with all the mycoplasma stuff. Even if it is true, there's not much we can do about it and it will just depress you.

Try to retain an attitude of what you can do, not what you can't do. Just remember there are many people who are paralyzed or totally crippled, so go with what you've got. I read tons of books, play the piano, ride my bike, garden a very small porch garden, sew a little, cook. On really bad days, just settle down with a good book or movie and know that every day will not be so bad. I've found taking 5htp helped with the depression. Don't let them put you on antidepressants. It's usually the first thing the docs want you to do. They must get a commission.

And don't pay a bit of attention to people that don't know the first thing about fibro. You'd have to experience this condition to understand it.

There was a really good one years back, but they took the forum down and everybody got lost. Never have really looked for another one since then. Just google it and maybe you can find a good one. Beware of whiners though. Try to find one with some positive people that are trying to make life good.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
Hey OP, lot of good suggestions here, almost to the point of confusing. I don't mean to add to the confusion, or say that this is the answer, but I have been doing a lot of reading about Iodine supplementation re: hypothyroidism. Anyhow, I keep seeing references to FM as well, and here is one good website: [link to www.fibromyalgiarecovery.com] - Fibromyalgia Recovery Group. Anyhow, check it out. There is a lot of interesting data about iodine, and the links given above by MATT are also useful.

For the record, I have been on synthetic thyroid hormone replacements for about 10 yrs.. I broached the topic of iodine supplementation with my MD and he snickered. So, without his cooperation, I began Iodine supplementation on my own, first with Ioderal, and then and presently with Magnascent Iodine. On my very next blood test my dosage requirement for Synthroid fell for the first time since I was diagnosed. Doc didn't ask, and I didn't tell.

Anyhow, most of us westerners are deficient in both Vit. D, and Iodine, and a great deal of info is coming out on how vital these substances are for good health.

the pain with fibromalgia is from acids in the tissues from an over acidic diet and poor lymphatic flow. Easiest way to remove the acids is infrared sauna and alot of water and of course an alkaline based diet. All that other bullshit is just BS that will not get you anywhere.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
Insnomia (4-6 hrs of sleep), IBS, Restless leg syndrome, TMJ (I had a TMJ Arithroplasty done in Sep 07), PTSD (yes had some bad times in life) I have never hurt anyone or myself, joint pain I am over flexible and if I dont work out I get stiff but when I work out I feel like I was boxing with Mike Tyson for up to 2 days after, I feel pretty lethargic no energy whatsoever, Cant think straight loss of concentration. Until I had my kid I was fine.

Are you in a toxic relationship? My sister had very similar symptoms, she was in an emotionally abusive relationship (didn't realize it at the time). When she got out of the relationship her health improved dramatically.

Most controlling relationships get worse when there is a commitment of some sort i.e. moving in together, getting married, having children, etc. "Until I had my kid I was fine".

I'm not saying that is what you have but it is something to consider. Most people never realize that controlling relationships (with their spouse, boss, co-workers, etc.) can have a devastating effect on their health.

Wish you all the best.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 378814

Very good point. OP take note. Not saying all fibromyalgia and other auto-immune illnesses are caused by this, but it's highly likely. The body can't take it and turns on you, the owner of the body, as a message to get out of the toxic relationship.

I spent 15 years in a medical clinic with a holistic approach but we also had MD's. The ONLY people I ever saw releive lifetime problems in their health were people that followed the principles in this video. All the other suplements therapies, etc only got them through the week ,nut never reverse it. This is your answer and it is not as easy as taking a pill or an hour "therapy" but it is the only thing that permanently works. ANs not you wont see this talked about at alot of clinics because even holistic clinis want your money for nutritional IV;s, supplements and therapys, while this is free and cheap.

I was diagnosed fibromyalgia 9 years ago. That's how long it took me to understand that Fibromyalgia -just like chronic fatigue, are part of a process, the body is changing, it's the ascension process. The best you can do is accepting it, learn to connect with your body energy and pain will go away.

Realize that you have many, many fellow people who suffer the syndrome that go through the same day as you. It is not all in your head.

Most of the meds they will prescribe just make it worse. They combine massive amounts of meds that really do not work for your condition.

Change your diet. Toxic build ups make the body worse for wear. Drink tons of distilled water. Cut out coffee. Do not smoke. Watch what additives you are consuming as mentioned in other posts. Surround yourself with people who truly know you are not well.

It never goes away. It becomes livable.

Some items that can help.
-wild oregano oil
-hemp seed oil
-green drink (try with a cranberry base mixture)
-cannabutter (in Canada get medical clearance for legal use)
-raw hulled hemp seeds daily

Depression is a product of the stress. The constant fight just to have someone listen to you. The fight with doctors, employers, friends, relatives and anyone else that can't see the truth about how you feel will lead into depression. The constant sleepless nights from restless legs. The no energy to do a dam thing. All of these are factors that lead into the depressive nature of FMS. FMS does not create the depression it is a product of all the crap you are going to go through.

Try to beat it with your changed lifestyle. Do not sit and let it take you down the path of failure.

Peace and all my best for you to live a life that you can live with this plague like illness. It is becoming one of the fastest growing health issues.

By walking and realizing you have created it psyhologicaly.

I was hit by a truck the Dr. said I have it. I am not a psyco.

It takes a trauma to start the fibromyalgia. This is what people don't understand. First you have a serious illness or accident and something starts the fibro, which is inflammation in your connective tissues, arthritis and chronic fatigue all mixed together. The actual fatigue and inflammation is made worse by exertion or exercise. You are damned if you try to live normally again. This happens to people who were "busy" types previous to the injury or trauma. If you were the type of person (a dancer) who was very physically active, worked a lot and had a super busy life, for some reason, fibromyalgia targets you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 393505

This is the truest that I have read so far. I have had Fibro for 10 years now. More test than you can imagine, nerve conductor, nuclear readings, you name it, I have had it. All kinds of x-rays, Doctors, EVERYONE is different...what works for one does not for another. Even our symptoms are all different. I am so stiff as tho can't sleep, have IBS, fatigue extreme, feel as tho I am encased in cement, headaches, weather affects me, some days I am almost normal the next all but an invalid. Tried so many different med, the side affects are as bad as what you already have. One of the hardest things is trying to explain it to others, they all say "You look fine?" I was a very busy Mother, had a busy career,, church, school for children activities, games, on and on. I was rear ended in a wreck and pushed into the car ahead of me. Lost my self that night...lost my car... lost my busy career, feel like I am another person now. Good luck to anyone with this strange syndrome, may the Lord give you HIS peace, HE has me.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
Many good suggestions on this thread-good topic and many need the information as well.

BACK TO BASICS is the best philospophy and what works for one many not work for another the same...

Clean water-WITHOUT FLUORIDE,

without other contaminants like pharmaceuticals which contaminate MANY water supplies-public and private.

Iodine-address deficiencies-as they have removed it from many salts and sell you the tablets only after showing ID(public domain)

Magnesium and Calcium supplement daily-alleviates the depleted sleep cycle and enhances healing for a variety of reasons-my experience has shown even those NOT DX(diagnosed) with FM will develop pain zones from lack of sleep and seem like they do have it-SLEEP(preferably not induced artificially by drugs as many of the necessary cycles are not reached)

The Cal/Mag combo will assist many in sleeping or hit the tryptophan in some turkey or warm cocoa/homemade to get the benefits...also helps the adrenals recoup from their worn and depleted conditions...usually also found with FMS-many have IBS as well or colitis...auto immune conditions and very much tied into emotions...(TCM,trad Chinese medicine)

B COMPLEX to avoid imbalancing the other B vites

Cats Claw
Horsetail etc, many herbs that are helpful and if one utilizes HERBS it should be in moderation...

One should naturally evaluate if there are other pre existing conditions which would warrant trigger points or severe pain..does not automatically exclude FM but definitely needs to be eval.

Acupuncture is another viable option for many

Exercise is critical even for dancers...many physical options may decrease for many or one may adapt...regardless the lack of any addtl exercise is a POOR CHOICE-although if one struggles to walk then SWIMMING or standing and MOVING in 3-4 ft of water if they are weak in swimming skills...one of the best options

I have had ALOT of trauma and yet I work it out and have much greater flexibility than many 10-15 yrs younger-those that give up should make funeral arrangements NOW...

Tai Chi, Qi Gong,Yoga, Pilates is VERY good

Massage therapy or energy work like reiki or TT are helpful as well

Restricting fast foods or even GMO/GE/FRANKENFOODS (monsaton) is preferred as Mycoplasmas do have their fingerprints on this and CFS etc...many diseases like MS even or Parkinsons...

Pharmaceuticals are poison imho and others gobble them down like soma treats...pain is relative...and one should learn ways to overcome whether it is with hypnosis or NLP or biofeedback of some kind-meditation is also VERY helpful...

Eating natural foods without preservatives and toxins of all kinds like MSG or aspartame...Stevia/sweet leaf much better

I avoid HFCS as much as possible as it increases diabetes risk and frequency imho

Natural is better and the body responds accordingly-but it is not a panacea and these conditions are the result of mass attack on the immune system and the body does the best it can do but some are more intense in reaction-there seems to be an electrical misfiring and it would be difficult to assess without the voluminous data in even the last decade, the full scope with the auto immune type conditions-many attributing a man made precursor and many would tend to AGREE-then many are discredited for a while until the facts are verified...

I have also seen many lay around moaning while they eat terribly and as gluttons, with their inability to control what they eat-making poor choices all around-why is that a mystery??? Knees struggle under 200 lbs plus or 400 or 500...without any exercise because of discomfort...and I am not free of pain-but it seems many want to have no pain-What world is that???

The differences between those that are from the 50 or 40 or 30 compared to the younger ones is wider than the Grand Canyon...astronomical...with some rare exceptions...seems conflict and "pain" are at the forefront for many even without medical conditions which in reality all dis-ease ties in with the mental state as much as the physical...but again that is relative as well.

Take care hf

Normally effects women who've had a hysterectomy. (normally with in 5 months). If this may be the case- look into change to a natural hormone vs. chem. Take all your meds to the doctor so they can run them in the med machine to see if there're counteractions creating a new chemical from the med chems and creating a chemical enbalance.

Re: How do you overcome Fibromyalgia Naturally?
THIS REALLY WILL KNOCK OUT YOUR FIBROMYALGIA EPISODE!!!!

A supplement called FIBRO-PLEX can be ordered online.

Just Google FIBRO-PLEX.

I have had severe fibromyalgia for about 15 years.
All it means is that sometimes your muscles do not
repair themselves during sleep, like they normally
should. When I would walk three miles a day, or work-out
strenuously, I would get fibromyalgia "episodes". They
would persist for weeks and then gradually I would get
better.

It was a painful, debilitating and discouraging condition.
It makes you feel like you have been run over by a truck!

Please try this. A wonderful chiropracter recommended it
to me. It has several vitamins and things in it, and
now everytime I start to get the fibromyalgia I take
some of these, and it goes away.

Good luck! My sympathies are with you!
