I found his phone number in an old phone directory back in the 90s and called it, and his Mother answered and I asked for Rush, and she said, "which one? Rusty?" and I said the announcer, and we had a about a 3 minute conversation. Sweetest old lady ever.

What a cool story! He grew up not far from where I went to college. I first heard him on the radio in the early 90s, I believe, after his program was syndicated. He has that kind of personality of the people of that area. Cape, Southeast MO, and Southern Illinois folks just tell it like it is--no sugar coating, and if they can do it with an ounce of humor, they do.
