Anonymous Coward User ID: 84015231 United States 08/14/2022 03:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok here is one. Maybe it's easy to answer. I purchased a 2016 Ford F 150 XL (couldn't afford the T) in 2017. It is a Ecoboost system. That means it shuts off when you are in drive and stopped, with brake depressed, like at a red light, for 40 seconds or a minute. The engine turns off but all your systems remain running, like your AC. When your brake begins to come up, your engine turns back on. You can see and feel when it stops and starts as your lights and radio seem to have a tiny break in them. But you would not notice really. Quoting: sad pony My question: my husband told me to turn this function off (it's a button on the dashboard to deactivate) as he would rather pay more for gas than have to replace a starter or ignition. Sometimes at red lights the truck may cycle thru this 4 or 5 times starting up each time. Do you think starters and ignitions are made longer lasting for all these extra starts and stops? Does it affect my alternator too? I do always turn it off as my husband told me too. Does it matter? Will it wear out my starter, alternator, and stuff like that faster? You should listen to your husband. |

Had to replace it once for the ABS Light being on. It's now back on. Have done a lot of searching and the folks that re-solder later ABS modules do not touch this one. (Haven't actually verified it is a module code, because I cannot find a code reader for OBD 1.5.) Suggestions? Did you replace just the module or the hydraulic control unit as well? Typically the DC motor in the HCU will dry the bushings out and get stiff and then blow the driver in the module. I've been bit enough times to know you typically replace both at the same time if you have motor faults. |

Once I get rolling the vibration stops car runs like a top otherwise I get 26 to 29 miles to the gallon not sure what to do after this. 4 cylinders are horrible at idle. My wife's car, the steering wheel turns into a blur with the AC on. If the mounts didn't fix it there's not much else. Perhaps look at the exhaust and see if it's moving excessively. It's the motor mount. Hondas use a gel-filled mounts which don't last. They tend to fail after only 100k. They are cheap though. |

I recommend leaving it on as long as you are under warranty. It is designed to conserve on fuel in traffic jams and it works well for that purpose. If it is RUNNING under its own power it is worth 2000, even if it is shedding two puonds of rusted bodywork a mile If someone put brake all around and bought new tires the vehicle and did not care about how it looks it would be a steal. I bought it 05 drove it daily for 5 years and then bought a new vehicle. Kept the truck as a "farm truck" used it to take trash cans down to the street once a week. The sun did a job on the paint and the tires. I now take trash down using my ATV. I have no need for this truck but because it currently can not be driven away because of tire and brake issue no one will come get it on a flat bed. It came Quoting: Taz With the shitty little 3 inch screen radio which I upgraded to the 8.3 touch screen / CarPlay / android auto XM and nav dual climate control all that. Ordered the parts and cables from a salvage yard had a dealer reprogram the BCU that all works fine. However - ever since then I randomly get this loud obnoxious low level “hum” sound has nothing to do with radio volume or weather it’s on or off but I did eventually determine it’s actually coming from the speakers. And on further investigation I learned that this truck has active noise cancelation and it actually pumps engine noise into the speakers (make the truck sound mean I guess idk). But what ever I did replacing the cluster components mucked the system up. Upon further research I have learned many people who mess around with the radio in my truck run into this same problem and they have a solution but it kinda scares me. If you flip to about 4 min into this video it will explain, they are basically disabling the system that is responsible for active noise cancelation. What are your thoughts on this ? Shameless one time bump :) |

Even when bumping starter to pre-run the lift pump several times. Disconnected hose at injector pump, ran lift pump, tons of fuel. Once started, runs fine. (I have installed a check valve before and after the fuel filter, so fuel is not draining back that way.) No evidence of fuel leak anywhere. Very frustrating. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :goob5: Check the transfer tubes. If they are leaking you won't build rail pressure and the fuel goes back to the tank via a head gally. Take a wrench 7/8, I think, and go down the line and tighten the large nuts outside where the fuel line bolts to the transfer tube.
