Intermittent fasting. 47 here lost 125lbs with fasting and exercise in one year

Ive been an avid jogger since I was 16 years old, every 2 days involved jogging 3-5 miles.

I got fat when I was 24 and knew it would be easy to lose the weight if I went back on the treadmill doing 3-5 miles days.

I typically stop the jogging program when I get down to 135lb. Its always been easy for me to get down to 135 after being fat.

At 35, I went up to 170lb and was easily able to get back down to 135lb from jogging and eating right.

Im now 40 years old, and Im 165lb, Im trying my best to go back down to 135lb and for the life of me I cant. Its been 2 months and Ive increased my mileage on the treadmill. Im now doing 7-8 miles every 2 days and my weight fluctuates between 160-165. I cant lose weight for the life of me.

I dont want to take any fat burners or any weight loss help pills.

I wanna do it the natural way like I always have. Eating clean and jogging.

Re: Im having the hardest time losing weight! Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r
Intermittent fasting! Look up Jason Fung and Dr Berg on YouTube. Just start off skipping breakfast and drinking only coffee (and some water here and there) in the morning (no food), Start off with two meals with no processed carbs and don’t snack between those meals. Your body will learn to burn its own storage of fat this way.
Also, do more resistance training to build muscle; maybe mix in some yoga and stop jogging so much. Increased time jogging will actually release more cortisol and make you retain more weight. Last tip - think about eating more protein from real plants like avocados rather than from meat. Your body can break the real plants down a lot easier than meat, giving your body more energy to break down its own fat; you’ll also feel lighter and will dream more vividly as a bonus

For women, starting around 40 years of age, as their estrogen levels decrease through aging, it becomes harder and more work to lose weight.
Your BigSister has some sage advice and opinions to offer characterized by wisdom, prudence, and good judgment through reflection and experience if you will receive it.

Re: Im having the hardest time losing weight! Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r
Simple, you have to put your body in a calorie deficient state...

More calories in than out = no lose weight

Less calories in than out = lose weight

Also stop jogging and walk on the treadmill instead.

Running will burn off stored carbohydrates first and not fat.

Walking will burn off fat first.

Also doo eet first in the morning before eating anything. That way your body will go into super-duper fat burn mode.

Hard rule - produce instead of products. Walk 5miles a day. Stretch. Lift. Cycle - but always as hard and as fast as you can for as long as you can.

Pushing 40 and super trim. Never used to be & if I can - anyon can.

Re: Im having the hardest time losing weight! Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r
Listen carefullly, because here is wisdom and great advice. Atleast if you’re male.

You can’t lose weight that easy by cardio and diet alone when you get older. It’s an hormonal thing, and a survival mechanism. As your testosterone declines, your body gets more likely to go into fat preservation mode from excessive dieting and cardio, and burn muscles first instead.

To conserve the fat reserves in case shit really goes south, as it interprets your excercise and diet as a crisis/famine situation.

What you need to do is to kickstart your testosterone production again with squats and weightlifting excercises. Cardio after 50 is almost useless, it just wears your body down. Joints, tendons, ligaments, everything just takes a beating from it. Your MUCH better off lifting, because that rejuvenates your body to a younger age due to the natural increase of growth hormones and testosterone it creates.

After a certain age cardio and dieting gets counterproductive, your body goes in conservation mode and interprets it as a crisis.

Squats will kickstart your hormones and testosterone, and lifting will keep you young, whereas excess cardio wears you down.

And it starts around 40. Google away. Thank me later.

Re: Im having the hardest time losing weight! Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r
Im trying zero carb carnivore, and it's almost scary how fast I'm losing weight. I lost some weight on keto, but never got rid of cravings.

I had to cut the sweeteners out completely and in 3 days the cravings were gone. I used to be a fast walker before my leg amputation, and needed something more permanent since it's more of a hobble nowadays on a prosthetic.

It was boring at first, but now I crave fatty meats, eat once or twice a day, and I'm usually full for most of the day.

Even my atrial fibs are gone. My skin feels soft, and I'm never hangry. That always came with carbs, though.

Good luck, op. Whatever you do, I hope you succeed. It's a personal journey we all have to take, if we want to feel better.

yes low carb diets work because you starve the parasites.

Parasites take all the good stuff and leave the intestines with only fats to absorb. Then you have excessive bloating, gas , and inflammation of the intestines.

You don't lose weight by training unless you're an Olympic athlete. Training can help you maintain your weight but the reality is that you lose weight by cutting on the food.

no carbonated beverages like diet soda or fizzy water or diet sports drinks

the carbonation makes the drink have a very low ph (and even sports drinks like Gatorade are very low, too) and that messes drastically with your ability to burn fat, it has to do with the hydrogen and acid forming minerals

you can literally get fat from diet soda, drink lots of water instead
Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads.

Research intermittent fasting.
Seriously!
Your body must go into ketosis sometimes or else it thinks you're starving and tries to hold on to every calorie by packing it away as fat.
Fast a little sometimes. Its not THATVgard to do and it melts fat.
Also. Just as important. Cut sugar out. Cut highly processed carbs out. Cut back on carbs generally.
Enjoy salads and veg in abundance. Goot quality meat and fish. Good quality fats.
Your waistline will improve as well as your health and longevity

Start counting carbs!

Stay under 20 carbs per day for one week(7 days).

Eat as much zero carb items as you want but make sure you eat oils and or mayonnaise to help with carb cravings.

Once in ketosis you can then add back some carbs in the form of vegis but stay around 30 carbs per day for two weeks.

Then just stay on the diet indefinitely adding back carbs but stay at around 40 carbs per day.

Continue exercising.

All there is to it!

If you want to lose weight you MUST Detox with food grade diatomaceous earth!

You’re not fat you’re just toxic… We naturally store chemicals, toxins, heavy metals, etc. in fat stores so if you don’t have a way to neutralize toxins stored in fat, you won’t burn the fat (self-preservation, all the toxins in the blood stream=death) DE also helps in lipid breakdown and boosts metabolism! My little brother started taking DE and has lost over 60+ and counting! Also great for hair, nails, skin, making collagen, strengthens teeth, kills parasites without die off symptoms because it also absorbs the toxins they release when they die and kills them hella quick. slice and dice!

Bonus tip: 3000 mg vitamin c minimum + 3000 mg L-Lysine (amino acid) minimum+ 800 mg vitamin E minimum best to split up 3x/day called the Linus Protocol and prevents plaque build up in arteries and brain, prevents heart disease, excellent antioxidant/antitoxin/antihistamine. check it out and much more on doctoryourself.com

Extra bonus tip: the amino alpha lipoic acid (another amino acid) is need for metabolism/fat burning/muscle building. We can make it but sometimes not enough if it. Supplementing with this will also help you shed the pounds.

Good luck!

I lost 65 lbs in 12 months. Cut out the carbs. High protein diet. Count calories. Lift weights at least three days a week and do some sort of cardio every day (walking, biking, running, swimming, etc.). I have a goal of 90 minutes of physical activity every day and typically exceed that.

Give yourself 2-3 weeks to wean yourself off sweets. That was the hardest for me. It's like crack, your body will go into withdrawals.

Quit drinking alcohol, sodas, sweet tea, etc. as well.

Try going gluten-free, meaning no product that contains wheat. Even if you don't have Celiac disease or have become gluten intolerant, its a much healthier way of eating. I have no choice but even if my Celiac disease had to magically disappear overnight, i'd never go back to eating anything with wheat in it. I lost a lot of weight through not having the chronic bloating anymore, had to give all my old clothes away. And one just feels healthier in general. In my case that improvement was very extreme bc it literally felt like i was dying, every day, for years on end. Seriously, give it a go.

Look into TRT ( testosterone replacement therapy). It happens when we get older.

I'd use the extra weight to get stronger doing pullups and dips along with heavy weight training. Eat more protein and you should feel less hungry. A small caloric deficit (200 less than maintenance) is the best way to lose weight easily without losing your mind from being hungry.

Calorie deficits are old, invalidated science.

At your age, you're getting to the point that hormones are sabotaging you. Keep your fat/protein ratio at 2/1 and go low carb. Also, incorporate Intermittent fasting to an extent--at least 12/12, but 16/8 is better.

I'm 51 and losing weight is a bitch, even with tracking macros, IF, Keto, low carb.

In the 40's and beyond, losing weight is about diet not exercise. Although, I lift heavy 3x/week in an effort to burn fat more efficiently.
