Help with Choosing a New Vehicle!
OK my life changed almost overnight. I was recruited by a large East Coast A/V company to do site surveys for them (nearly doubling my current earnings).

I'm a general contractor by trade, and currently have a 2021 TRD Tundra (1794 Edition) with the twin turbo V6. Highway, she does about 18-20 depending on how I drive and what load I'm carrying. City? Fohgettabouttit... 12-13 at best.

I'll be doing a lot more over the road travelling and was just wondering what I could pick up in SUV or crossover (maybe even a hybrid). I'm up for used or new (as I'm now in a much higher tax bracket).

I'm up for suggestions as I trust MOST GLPer's opinions.

My ONLY request is that she be on more of the "luxo-cruiser" like my Tundra. That thing is so well refined, you don't even know you're in a pickup (besides looking down on people in traffic). LOL

Any input on a dependable vehicle?

Much thanks in advance!

I loved my C70 but Volvo as elegant as they currently are, are owned and I believe made in China... I'm not saying POS but I'd research heavily.

If you go with hybrid you'll save a ton of gas $ but I wouldn't necessarily try to drive that forever because battery replacement.

Honestly your truck sounds relatively ideal minus the gas mileage.

Chevy bigger V8's (6.0/6.2 etc) can get great highway milage but I wouldn't buy anything with cylinder deactivation on highway, however apparently you can flash or deactivate somehow on models a few years older.

repower/rebuild, Lift Kit, and Rust Proofing. You will have a new ride. Dash upgrade and air ride suspension. Why buy a new POS when you have a great ride to begin with. Reialibilty and many upgrade options.
I miss my dually when not working it. I downsized to 3/4 ton.
But rust was my enemy and I had to give it up.
The price to replace it. I could of moved into a medium-duty truck for the same price.

It is not about luxury. It is about what you need to do with it. Otherwise, get an econobox and be happy with the new blue tooth and heated seats.

^^^THIS^^^ I’m on my 5th Acura MDX- absolutely LOVE IT! And if you want to know why I’m on my 5th, because I buy it outright, put some mileage on it for a few years(business write off), then give to my lesser able family. I know they are safe in the MDX, and they last forever! My first was an 04, my nephew who just got his license drives now, with 280,000 miles (my sister gave it to him as his starter vehicle, he’s 16) I’m now onto my 2022 I bought last year, and all are still in the family! Great vehicles and fun to drive.

It's not an SUV nor a crossover and most certainly NOT out of my price range though. My Tundra was $78,000.

But thanks for your input!

Subaru Outback 2018 or above. Almost 30 mpg on the road. As comfortable as any car twice the price. All wheel drive. Every bit of technology you could never want. Cavernous interior. cost and upkeep is miniscule. As much clearance as any SUV. I've been a subaru ambassador for years.

Lexus takes whatever Toyota has...then refines it much further.

They are not the same vehicles.

I bought a 2014 Lexus IS350 in 2019...for really cheap. Real leather, inside is clean, the Mark Levinson Sound system is top notch and likely the best sound system you can find in 99% of vehicles.

Ive had the car about 3 years and have had almost zero car problems.

Lexus is a fanastic brand. Ohh, and youll never see nicer paint on any other vehicle than your own.

If it were me , I would do custom Mercedes-benz 8X8 Actros with a full kitchen and a toilet that rotates toward the coffee maker and that can raise up out the roof that I can still drive from in white and greys camo .

I just bought a second hand 2020 chevy silverado crew cab w 15km for $49k cad.
Love it!
20” rims,
Jet black with probably the darkest tinted glass.
A 6’ box that came with the box ‘roll up’ cover and bug guard on hood, rain deflectors all around.
Epoxy front grill.

Took it on holidays,

Beaut!

Totally happy
