We're required to make such a list, but it doesn't go on the warrant. Generally it goes on a property receipt which we provide to the owner or resident.

Secondly, there is a “return of search warrant" form which contains the same information and gets filed with the judge. It basically says, “I carried out the court's order to search this place, and here's what I seized.”

Any evidence seized has to be inventoried and a copy of the inventory left either with the property owner or at the place of the search. In Nevada, the inventory was written on the back of the search warrant (in my day, we used carbon paper for this, so the original would be on the back of the court copy and the carbon on the back of the copy left at the scene). DEA used the standard DEA-12 Inventory and Receipt for Property form for warrant returns. I expect most agencies use similar procedures to list property taken pursuant to a search warrant.
