I'm in the business that deals directly with aluminum. This makes sense. All aluminum extrusions are impossible to get now. Lead times doubled this week from 24 to 40+ weeks. I was wondering what the fuck happened.

They do 10mm sheets for Ford truck beds.

I used to provide Industrial Chemicals to the Alcoa Plant in Rockdale TX outside of Austin. Aluminum plants require a HUGE amount of electricity for smelting the alumina.

Why did Alcoa leave Rockdale Texas?
The mayor of Austin said Rockdale should shut down the lignite power plant and therefore the huge aluminum plant. Suddenly and without warning, Alcoa abruptly shut down its Rockdale smelter in 2008. Alcoa claimed that the new power supply from Sandow 5 was unstable.
