I've never experienced depression, but emotional pain is far worse than physical pain...

Emotional pain can prevent you from make good decisions, and now you have situational depression to deal with also...

Landing on a planet full of Amazon women and no men only to find out that they are Post Op men that don't shave.

I mean duh, right?

Can you fix diabetes by meditating on insulin?

Depression is like hunger pangs.

It is the feeling you get when you are doing something that you shouldn't be, or not doing something you should be.

Period.

THIS! Plus the feeling of "what is the use?"

Knowing you were a good person (the way you define it), and it led to nothing.

Then knowing that you have yourself to blame to some extent for life not working out.

Knowing you're running out time.

Then losing feeling. No anger, happiness, joy. Just nothing. Just getting the impression that there may not be another sunrise.

That's my definition.

But I still keep fighting. Still trying to improve my lot. But that's because I don't like to lose at anything (especially at the game of life). Life doesn't get to fuck me. It has no right. I won't let it.

The quacks down the hall in the psychology lab have now concluded that if you simply change the way you think, you can forget about those chemicals. Your root problem is that just have a poor attitude about your heart...This is all correctible with songs such as "kumbaya" played offkey by a campfire...and of course, thinking about rainbows and pronouns...

First you need to recognize depression from anxiety, and then from situational to chemical, or a combination of all the above...When you get all the symptoms sorted, you can begin to address them...

I have learned volumes from a friend who suffers horribly...

His pain and my experience in helping him, and a knowledge of the sciences including some light reading of "Basic Neurochemistry" , 1129 pages of excitement and adventure lol, I'm happy to help.

Depression is enmeshed with our form of sentience in this universe.

We are sentient. Sentient of our impending horrible, ignoble, lonely deaths upon a cold, consumptive world with other lonely, suffering beings; all clawing each other to continue being locked into their own prisons and racing to their digestion for either some cosmically unknowable reason or no reason at all.

But at least we have death... unless endless religions somehow got something right and we have done something against arbitrary rules and are cast into an eternal hell that's somehow even worse than this OR reincarnate and are thrust again into this eerily familiar hell with no memories or wisdom gained.

Or maybe heaven is real and if you follow certain arguably arbitrary rules you are rewarded with an existence that never changes or experiences loss, and so even a state of bliss will become hellish after an eternity of sameness, as how can one experience bliss without something to measure it against? Imagine being with family and friends for a literal eternity? Being with yourself for eternity? Existing for eternity? Eternity?

Non existence is the ultimate blessing, though it might not be obtainable.

Depression also entails endless tests to see if you are a bot, informing you that you really are just a bot. Maybe God is surrounded by bots, endlessly reflecting his madness?

But at least there is a bright side. Maybe our state of awareness changes and existing is not a maddening torture at some point? Until then, though...

Groundhog day everyday, not knowing what to do, not wanting to do much of anything, having no real goals mostly caused by not being able to imagine a worthwhile future for humanity, anxiety, a life of rogue chemical therapy loving them thinking without them you'd be dead but perhaps it's also them that's dragging you down, no confidence, no woman, your divorced parents moving in with you temporarily only for that to be closing in on 3 and a half years, you know just a couple examples nothing specific.

Well, Life is just there. You gotta do something with it.

It's the equivalent of telling a person with a broke arm or cancer to cheer up and expect it to fix things. Like gee I never thought to cheer up before what brilliant insight

circumstantial depression. you'll get through this.

my mother just passed away a few months ago. she had major depression. it made her almost impossible to maintain relationship with. it's hard to see eye to eye with someone that can lash out so fiercely one day but then be so nice the next day. I thank god and the universe that I don't have any sort of mental disorders.

Has fasting for a week or longer ever been tried ? Or working to exhaustion 6 days per week? Relief from physical pain or misery might change the neuro-chemical background.

When you don't care to eat, shower, brush your teeth, change clothes and spend every moment of your day regretting things from the past. This will pass friends.

Next time you get run down by a bus - please try to remain cheerful.
