If you had actually tried to look at and measure it for yourself you would know this

As they move above the horizon you lose this comparison giving you nothing spatially for direct comparison.

Funny, I have actually tested this because it didn't seem right, but it is. It's an illusion. I agree it looks like they are bigger, but they aren't. Why don't you try measuring it for yourself?

Measure the width at the horizon and later after appears smaller and measure it again.

always figured it has to do with the atmosphere working like a lens sorta and the perspective we have on that angle but yet doesn't really change size, its an illusion so to speak.
