How quickly NPCs forgot that Trump EOd down insulin prices and the first thing FJB did was remove that so their Sh-thead legislators could pretend to be white knights.

Inconvenient Truth.

We could easily make it ourselves for $10/vial. Our "leaders" don't want to fix this.

No there isn’t. But millions of Americans wishes there was. Educate yourself.

If there was, why do you think the Senate was voting on one today and Republicans eliminated it?

I corrected it...there is under Medicare. You can see my proper response above.

Right now, only seniors qualified for the $35 cap if they were near the poverty level and qualified under the “extra help” category.

The vast majority do not qualify.

Again with the outright lies. I am one of those "seniors" and there are absolutely NO REQUIREMENTS to be qualified with low income at all. Medicare even pays for my Dexcom g6..doesn't cost me a dime.

You won't like it but this was started by President DONALD TRUMP and I've been benefiting from it since.

From the Medicare site:

You pay 100% for insulin (unless used with an insulin pump, then you pay 20% of the Medicare-Approved Amount after you meet the Part B deductible).

Many Medicare Advantage and stand along Medicare Part D offer a $35 cap, but not everybody has access to those.

Not at all. Lindsey Graham got it stripped out on a parliamentary technicality.

No excuses.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83059091

You haven't a damn clue what you are talking about. The Parliamentarian works independently to rule whether certain things a senator may want to do is within the rules of the Senate and the law. The Parliamentarian told them DimOcrap to go fuck himself and it was the DimOcraps who tried to overrule HIS ruling...there was NEVER a damn vote (up or down) on the amendment because the amendment was not approved to be brought to the floor.
 Quoting: FeedYourHead

OK, here's a clue for you on how this works in plain language and without ranting and obscenities.

Any Senator may raise a point of order against an extraneous provision in the reconciliation bill, amendments, or the conference agreement. The Senate Parliamentarian decides whether there is a Byrd rule violation, and provisions struck through a Byrd rule point of order cannot be offered later as amendments. However, Byrd rule points of order can be waived by a vote of 60 Senators.

In this case, the Senate parliamentarian , Elizabeth MacDonough, issued her opinion and Senator Lindsey Graham raised that point of order, which then meant that 60 votes would be required to keep the insulin cap in.

In order to keep the insulin cap in the bill, Democrats called a vote but most Republicans voted no and the insulin cap is gone. There was no reason why any Senator could have voted to keep the insulin cap in the bill, so remember that in on voting day if you are diabetic.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83632583

Good grief...you people can twist anything into a pretzel! Lindsay Graham sought to enforce THE RULING THE PARLIAMENTARIAN HAD GIVEN!

The ONLY damn thing DimOcraps did was to call for a vote in order to put Republicans on record. They already had their fucking ruling from the damn Parliamentarian....

Keep in mind, DimOcraps brought this rebranded bullshit to a vote by doing an end run around the normal 60 vote requirement by changing the wording. I think it especially how quaint it is they were able to change what had been "Build Back Better" and sell it was an inflation reduction act...again, just more of the typical pack of LIES from the left....nothing new.

The Parliamentarian wouldn't let them add this last minute change because it would have required a 60 vote cloture....SHE made the ruling...period. How dare a politician actually support legality....it really is uncommon these days but that is all Republicans did.
 Quoting: FeedYourHead

He didn't have to. Graham raised a point of order knowing that there weren't 60 votes to override it and the $35 cap was gone. It would have been perfectly legal and proper to either not raise the point of order and let the vote continue (which would have required 51 votes) or raise the point of order and vote it down with 60 votes.

Make all the excuses you want, but in the end the $35 insulin cap was stripped as a result of Lindsey Graham's point of order and the other 42 Republicans who voted with him. The vote was 57 for and 43 against.

Millions of Americans, some of whom have trouble affording it, will have to continue to pay the full price for the most expensive insulin prices in the world.

Of course everyone has access to those...mine costs $0 premium. The ONLY qualification to receive $35 a month insulin is that you be diabetic....you are talking to someone who has been receiving $35 a month insulin for 2 years now and I an nowhere near the poverty line....I simply have Medicare and Part C.

Now, are there Advantage plans that do not provide the $35 cap? Probably...they tailor those plans to meet the needs of a variety of patients needs. As an example, why provide $35 insulin for someone who doesn't have diabetes? Some folks need hearing aids, others want more dental...this is where the various Advantage plans come in. You should be happy, this is government working with private industry actually doing a good job...no thanks to Democrats.

No, I did not say the parliamentarian didn't issue a ruling.

Any further comment would be superfluous.

first day in office Joe Biden cancels Trump's

35 dollar insulin

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83877326

First you need to read the EO that Trump issued to understand that this discounted insulin rule, if it was finalized, would never have applied to all or even most Americans

It would have required that Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) -- which serve about one in 11 Americans, including homeless and vulnerable populations -- offer the discounted price they receive when they purchase insulin and injectable epinephrine (EpiPens) through a federal program called 340B.

[link to www.federalregister.gov (secure)]

Trump signed the EO on December 23rd, 2020, it was never implemented and when Biden took office, he froze all of Trump's pending EOs.

Not saying that was the right thing to do, but that's what actually happened.

The vote today cancelled any prospect in the near future for all Americans to be able to receive insulin at the $35 cap.

Re: GOP COMES TO THE AID OF BIG PHARMA AGAIN: Republican senators just blocked the $35 per month cap on insulin.
Here’s how Republicans stripped out the insulin cap, while the rest of the bill passed.

Senate Democrats fell short of an effort Sunday to overrule a decision by the parliamentarian that effectively struck down a proposal sponsored by Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) to cap out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 a month for people not covered by Medicare.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the ranking member of the Budget Committee, sought to enforce the parliamentarian’s ruling that Warnock’s cap on insulin prices violated the Byrd Rule because it would set prices in the commercial market and therefore couldn’t pass with a simple majority vote.

Senate Democrats insisted on a vote to waive the procedural objection to put Republican senators on record, including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the most vulnerable member of the GOP conference, on the record as opposing a popular proposal to rein in insulin prices.

The Senate voted 57-43 to waive the procedural objection against the insulin price cap but Democrats scored a symbolic victory when seven Republicans voted with the Democrats: Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska).

All 43 “no” votes came from Republicans.

So you can thank Miss Lindsey for this one.

I don’t care who it is. You vote against an insulin price cap to help big pharma, you shouldn’t get re-elected. Either party.
