Renewables Falter As Texas Power Grid Sees Record Demand
Wind power generation in Texas (America's number-one wind power state) slumped during the heatwave that began on July 11, as wind speeds typically plunge during hot, high-pressure systems where the air above stifles winds. So the wind turbines in Texas were generating just 8% of their capacity. Meanwhile, power demand was at a record high.

Perfect storm
ERCOT's July 13 appeal to Texans and businesses for energy conservation noted that factors driving the need for the action by customers included: record-high electric demand, low wind generation compared to what is historically generated in this time period, forced outages in thermal generation exceeding ERCOT forecasts, and a developing cloud cover in West Texas that reduced the amount of solar generation.

People had better start taking measures to protect theirselves.... Since the gov't isn;t going to be there to do their job! You may want to add you own power back-up (propane/NG -or- diesel generator)...

Re: Renewables Falter As Texas Power Grid Sees Record Demand
My mother moved down to DFW in march as sisters set her up in a nice condo (3rd story). Of course there went any generator options.... & I've always disliked power stations (solar generators).

Yet I had to refer her something, so went with a Bluetti AC200P. Honestly after enough research & reviews I feel better about her now having one. She can toss up the 300w solar kit on the west balcony, not a lot but something.

The unit itself will run both fridges 4hrs each on a charge, which is enough to keep them good if she recharges the pack (most likely taking the pack to a sister that has a generator). It can charge off the car or the solar but let's be real... that's slow slow.

But the option to take the unit up the road to a sister and recharge & bring back once a day at least keeps the fridges good and other small stuff charged. Man was it $$$$ though!

Just a thought, but surely a generator above any Power Station.
