How does a belief about the shape of the Earth help an individual get free of the simulation?

Is the key to freedom about the shape of the Earth, or is it not giving a fuck about yowling around in the layers of eddys of limited hangouts?

We have 10% brain function and we observe roughly 1% of reality.
Seeing is not even valid evidence for believing.

Re: How the ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round...THE DEBATE IS OVER!
No one in "science" uses Eratosthenes method as a proof of a globe earth, because it only works in a 2D plane.

Place a third point out of alignment from the first 2 points, in a triangle formation, and the the "model" collapses to prove a globe.

Notice how Sagan only has two points on a single curved surface, that he bends from flat to curved like a cylinder (that is called a single-curved surface, as opposed to a globe which is called a double-curved surface).

The reason why he doesn't use a globe, such as a beach ball, to display his point is because Eratosthenes model actually suggests a near sun and a flat plane when you resolve for 3 points in 3D on a double curved surface.

If this is your evidence, then the debate is far from over.

Every body of water on earth has a flat surface.

Most of earths surface is water, so tell us how or why a body of water can have a curved surface?

It cannot.

Builders first levels, for building, were water levels, as every single body of water has a flat surface.

Science if it wants to stop flat earth should show us one single body of water that has a surface that is curved.

There is none.

We see a horizon, as gravity distorts light, and what we can see at a max distance.

Over the horizon radar only works, as the earth is flat.

Usa, and russia can detect any missile fired anywhere in the world.

It wouldn't. A third point would only work on a globe as the Sun is distant which IS what Eratosthenes used. Flerfs claim that the angles from the shadows on an assumed plane can be used to get the height of the Sun. Add a third point on a plane and then you don't get the angles intersecting at the same place. It doesn't work when you assume a flat plane.

Re: How the ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round...THE DEBATE IS OVER!
Erotosthanes already knew the earth was round......his measurement was simply to determine its size.....which is done very accurately that way....

Of course you can place a local sun in just the right spot so that 2 angle measurements will yield the correct result.....but then every1 else on earth would see the sun veering wildly off course..

This is proof that the Earth is in fact curved circularly along its latitude .....and that the sun is some great distance away.....

There is nowhere you can place a local sun over a flat surface and get the correct angles we see every day all over the earth.....

here is a to-scale cad model of flat earth......with markers along each line of latitude.....

https://imgur.com/AaTGLE0

at the winter solstice ...at the 60th parallel north.......millions of people in st petersburg russia.....oslo norway....and fairbanks alaske.....see the sun rise to 6.6 degrees above the horizon at noon......
while people at 60 degrees south see the sun at 53.4 degrees above the horizon.....

people at 45 degrees north see the sun rise to 21.6 degrees above the horizon.....while people at 45 degrees south see the sun at 68.4 degrees.......
of course .....these angles then reverse themselves at the summer solstice......

here is the flat earth side view of this situation.....every1 seeing the sun at all these different angles at the same moment......

https://imgur.com/HXijUQy

while a spherical earth makes all observed angles line up precisely for every1 on a globe.....

I'm assuming a local sun 3100 miles up and about 31miles across.....over your flat earth Gleason map.....
This is as close as you can ever get to replicating what we actually see from 60 degrees north latitude to 60 degrees south latitude.....
Any other height and size will simply magnify the errors you already get....

There is nowhere you can put a local sun over a flat surface......with evenly divided latitudes ....that will replicate the angles we see the sun at on earth.....

For the same reason you can never get a sunset on flat earth due to perspective.....in order for the sun to get even 1 degree from the horizon.......the sun would need to be 178,000 miles away......while simultaneously being high overhead somewhere else on flat earth at noon.....

Here's an idea.....why don't you do as I've done.....and build a scale model of the flat earth disk.....then tell me where you put the sun to match the angles we see the sun at.....??

Isn't that like....the first thing you would do the day you decided to believe the earth is flat....??

Has it ever crossed your mind that there's a good reason nobody has produced such a simple working model of flat earth that can definitively triangulate the location of the sun and its path around your flat diskworld.....???

You don’t even need math to prove the earth is round. The moon is literally upside down in the Southern Hemisphere compared to the northern hemisphere.

The entire pattern you see on the moon is 100% upside down on each hemisphere from our perspective.

Flerfs claim that the angles from the shadows on an assumed plane can be used to get the height of the Sun.  Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80141479

No.

Go do the math yourself.

Plot three points on a globe, and the reality we see only matches a near sun on a flat plane. Even if you can't be bothered doing the math, a beach ball and strong torch can display the concept easily.

Once you add a third point on a globe model, by triangulation, it disproves a distant sun, and near sun with three points only works with a flat plane, to resolve Eratosthenes math.

Again, as I said, this why this model is NOT used in science as a proof of the size and shape of the earth.

Eratosthenes model only works with 2 points and a distant sun. Add a third point and model collapses, the math suggesting a near sun, by triangulation.

In the end, it's all mathematical model guesses. We always seem to have to "trust" someone's word.

After the last 3 years I don't trust ANY voice of "authority" anymore.

Especially now with rabid globers (people who seem to actually care about the earth being a globe or not), who have nothing better to do with their time than be rude.

To really prove it one way or another, we would have to go to places, simultaneously, that the powers don't allow for.

Why is that?... and doesn't that suggest we SHOULD be asking this question?

This actually doesn't prove anything.

As most Flat Earthers believe the sun to be much smaller and localised on part of the flat plane.

So it could in fact be above one and make the other cast a shadow.
