That the “Dead in Christ” will rise FIRST. The dead in Christ refers to those that have turned away, questioned their faith or otherwise fallen. Will rise again in Christ. Before the second coming. Not the dead that have passed. They are already with Christ. The verse goes on to talk about the “asleep in Christ” will awaken. Judgement of the wicked precedes the second coming.
