i've 52 years old, never have I ever heard this bullshit excuse for the restaurants closing their dining rooms.

now all of a sudden they're all closed due to 'staffing issues'

they are being told to shut down and say it's because of staffing issues by the 'health department police'

just lies upon lies, layers of deception upon layers of deception

yeap, sucks especially for gig workers like Doordash and Uber. Have to go thru the drivethru now instead of going in.

Understaffed means, add 15 minutes.

some literally have 2-3 people doing eveything at a McDonalds and taco bell, its horrible.

so why the fuck would they choose to close their restaurants? I'm guessing they get COVID PPP money if they claim they can't find staff due to pandemic or something like this.

this shit is just the craziest gaggot non sense the world has ever witnessed and people all acting like it's NOT the craziest gaggot non sense they've ever seen

ok if you're a teenager, MAYBE you don't know any better, what the fuck is with these grown ass adults and old people who are not raising hell, what a bunch of satanic cowards leaving this eto their future generations

Have you ever managed a restaurant?

Or are you just complaining about an inconvenience because you are hungry?

My local corner store was closed after 9 for like a week because they can't hire anyone.

Covid literally destroyed business in my area, it's like a fucking ghost town after 9.

Where the hell is everyone and what the fuck happened?

I have my theories.

Along with the hotel I manage I also manage a diner that is connected to it.

We are carryout only most of the time. I have literally 1 person to work each shift except weekend mornings.

We are open 24 hours a day. That 1 person takes orders, cooks, collects the money and checks people in and out of the hotel.

I just hired a new person who wanted full-time, after a few months she says she wants part-time then proceeds to tell us all how she is short on bills every month.

Another new person been there 3 weeks decided tonight she wants part-time after telling me she really needed money and would work overtime.

They aren't making crap money either. On a good night they walk out making $22 - $25 an hour. On a decent night about $18.

To have eat in dining is to much for 1 person so we go carryout.

I was full staffed thru covid but once vaccines rolled out and everything opened up, I've been short staffed and it has steadily gotten worse.

Faith is the soil where flowers grow and you need to nourish yours on a regular basis. Accepting that change is a natural condition and not a sign of your past mistakes helps you open up and let go of all those aspects of life that are beyond your control.

Exactly. If it's a mid to higher end place, servers are not a dime a dozen and neither are chefs.

As a restaurant owner we found out we make way more money on takeout. No servers, buss boys, hostess, dishes, extra dish washer napkins, toilet paper, salt pepper, menus, coffee, carbonated beverages with free refills that people drink a quart of, a/c and heat for the dining room, sanitizes, napkin wrappers, left over containers and bags…. and on and on and on..

Take out, throw it into a box and your done.

Lower sales but…. easy going for kitchen staff, no rushing when everyone comes in at 5, give them 30-45 minutes, make the food leisurely and at the end of the day actually making more $$$$$$$$$

Youngsters got laid off during the pandemic and turned to trading stocks and crypto while laid off. They made enough profits from that to not have to work for a few more years.

That’s exactly why and all new Tim Horton future builds are supposed to be drive through only. NO DINING ROOM. Was just announce a month or two ago.

PPP is long gone buddy. But did last a hell of a lot longer with no dining room staff.

The other big savings is closing early. So many restaurants now close super early like us and consolidate businesses between 3 and 7 pm. Phones go off the hook at 7.

Its starting at most places around here now. Zaxbys on teh other hand had 15 workers other day. It still took 30 minutes to get my order. Another thing the workers are just pure shit these days. They messed up every order while I was there.

One thing I dont get is how do people afford to feed a whole family these days. I watch 3 people order over $100 worth of food.

Oh another thing… some day we can’t we can’t handle the door dash. The tablet goes of and off and some times 4 orders come in at once. Doordash has been amazing plus are prices are jacked up 24% over there. Doordash was not there 50 years ago. Makes up for the whole dining time alone

Wow. Angry much? I clean hotel rooms and work overnight 3 days a week in the diner. Because of lack of employees. I get 1 day off a week. Just because I manage doesn't mean I'll die for it. Yes, my company did get the ppp and the amount they got makes sense. We have 37 hotels and 27 diners across the country.

It's the same thing every where. No one wants to work. If you're so worried about eating in a place get a job there or better yet open your own. Let us know how that works out for you.

We ordered a pizza yesterday. Went in to pick it up and they've closed their dining room. People don't want to work and besides, if I were the owner I'd be happy to not pay servers and and bussers. Id rather have a good, easy online ordering system with pick-up or delivery.

It happens everyday, clueless idiots coming off the street wanting to eat inside the Resturant, as though the last 2 years of pandemic insanity didn't happen- oh, but these people want their "Resturant experience."

Many of the servers left, and if they weren't jab injured, they still wouldn't come back due to the meanness and inconsideration of the general public. I have talked to many servers and they would rather starve than go back to serving.

The place I work at is completely skeleton crew- I was half joking when I said that if the Resturant lost one person, the place would shut down, and just yesterday, one of the kitchen cooks got into an accident- and now the Resturant is shut down.

We aren't looking to hire anyone new- nobody is coming in to see if we are hiring, plus, people are dumber than ever nowadays. I have a feeling the place I am working will go along as far as it can go until the wheels fall off, and then shut down shop.

Be happy the place you are going for food is even cooking. You're living in the last of the good days and don't even know it.

Hey grandpa…they are not lying dumbass and aint nobody telling them to close. The last thing a restaurant wants to do is close a source of revenue. But you have to have people in order to keep the doors open. Otherwise old grey beards like yourself would bitch and moan about the service.
