Many years ago I was forced to do local radio. I was unemployed at the time, and this was part of the stuff I had to do to cash out my gibs.

I hated hearing myself talking on radio, and thought I sounded like a retard.

But all the other people there loved my voice and said I had a perfect radio voice.

Radio is for retards, so I guess it makes sense.

It is really all about intonation, and pitch modulation. Do not speak in a monotone, like a computer or AI. If you are really a good speaker, make your voice like music, but don't try too hard. Politicians (actors) learn this sort of thing:

You are hearing me talk. Everything I'm saying is bullshit, but the relaxing and well-modulated tone of my voice, and my hand gestures (Hitler knew this) will convince you that I am really saying something important!

Never B sharp, never B flat. ALWAYS B natural. That is coming from a musician. Aside from retail managers and workers, we are the best actors ever; better than Brando.

Back a decade ago I used to post youtube videos & every time people would comment “wow, I love your voice” which I always found strange. It isn’t a deep, resonating voice, I guess sort of smooth, clean - I don’t know. I never thought anything of it & still don’t understand why so many would comment this on my old channel.

Anyway, I gave up making videos when youtube grew increasingly shitty towards smaller creators - demonetizing channels, etc.

Good choices both. I'm partial to Karen, but I find the a capella break in "Georgy Girl", where Dame Judith chimes in with "inside you", irresistible.

Don't think the original question was focused on singing voices, though. Many (but not all!) people on the radio have pleasing voices and know how to manipulate them. In my opinion, Paul Harvey knew how to use his.
