In a potentially troublesome development for Elon Musk, Andrej Karpath the Director of Artificial Intelligence, who played a critical role in developing Autopilot from just a basic lane assist feature to being able to drive in city streets, has resigned from Tesla after a months long sabbatical.

Unless Tesla can find a capable replacement quickly, this could be a major setback in their race to achieve level 5 autonomous Driving (FSD) before other automakers do.
