I can make $6 dinners for one and prob $3 for lunch CAD
and that is being thrifty.

If i step it down and just eat macaroni or soup & sandwiches, pancakes etc type shit i may be able to live on $6 a day.
But thats not healthy and not easy.

Although, fresh local produce and depression era like cooking i may be able to live cheaper

I KNEW her "food" was plastic foods. My bill was often $120 a week...for myself ONLY! 1000% organic, carnivore diet with a few "fun" organic treats like berries.

She’s very disciplined and organized however, i just don’t see one weeks worth of food there.

Most people on welfare don’t really have the same discipline and qualities needed as that woman does to be able to live like that.

Yeah, but I'm a guy, baby. I need 2200 calories a day just to keep weight with an active lifestyle.

So that is $170 a month. Like what I'm already paying.

She’s fully maximizing and thats great however for me, i would go buy a bag of potatoes rather than packaged.
Also, i would be storing those chicken dinners in the fridge for 3-4 days.
In the freezer with everything.
Also that vacuum sealer deal is great.
Got to get one

Re: How To Live On $30 A Week (for food)
It's a reason to keep a stocked pantry of staples like

olive oil, vinegar, coconut oil, butter (frozen), spices, herbs etc.

plus rice, beans, oatmeal, flour, peanut butter

and things like canned olives, tomatoes, and frozen peas and green beans, and dried fruit, canned tuna and salmon

If you have that stuff on hand, buying it on sale when the opportunity arises, or when you have a little extra money and the energy to go shopping,

Then during leaner times or busier times, you can only shop for

carrots
celery
radishes
lettuce
peppers
garlic
spinach
potatoes
bananas
cabbage
apples

eggs

If you buy those cheap fresh fruits and vegetables, plus eggs, you can make endless meals, tons of variety, beautiful salads, stir frys, breakfasts, soups, chili, you name it, that's what I do.

Buying basic vegetables and a few fruits in season is my game plan, I cook every meal from scratch, I do freeze things like chopped peppers for convenience, anyway there's an art to keeping a pantry for money management, I got mine fully stocked up, more than ever recently, and I am going to eat from it now and only buy fresh vegetables for a month or two. It's not as cheap as it used to be but I can get as much food as I can possibly carry home, a heavy load, for $30.00, and eat for over a week.

Haven't watched the vid, no offense OP, but I prolly won't, lost me at Prepper Princess, lol...saw the headline though and chiming in.

I don't worry about money much, but I've been fiscally conservative with food as a habit for years. I eat to fuel my body, not for the enjoyment, but I still love what I cook as well, and I do sometimes indulge myself with my favorites.

Even now with prices high and going higher I'm eating good, and good means I'm not annoyed and I'm content, on $50 a week. Great soups, hearty casseroles, easy lunches, some pizza and drinking food mixed in, and all of it decently healthy.

Granted I'm not buying organic and obviously not eating steak, but I'm happy and not feeling the pinch at all.

Curries, soups, noodle/pasta dishes, stir fries, lots of beans. If you can grow a garden for a little more green vegetable to eat. Frozen fruit and veg is awesome.

Between my wife and I, we spend about $250 AUD on groceries per week.

Excellent quality produce, grown as it should be, and fresh within days costs a lot.

It matters what you put in your body, how it was grown and where it comes from.

True.....American household are pretty wasteful.....I know so many that shop for stuff that they MIGHT eat during the week, the stuff goes bad or just thrown away....

I was a thrifty eater when I was younger cuz I identified food as "gut fill" or a meal.....since I was on the go, spending money on food that I wouldn't enjoy was silly so my breakfast and lunch was based on gut fill....that's just pure fuel, lots of the stuff wasn't a composed meal.....my wastage was small cuz everything was utilized....

Breakfast could be a boiled egg and 2 plain tortillas....lunch could be an apple and leftovers from last night's meal....

I like to cook on the weekend and portion my food out for the week....a meatloaf is cheap and freezes well, can serve as a sandwich or dinner....

$30 would be very easy for me....

My cheap eats paid off as it aided in my success.....Now retire, my wife and I eat pretty well now BUT it still bugs me when she throws out food....LOL...

Food pantry and churches are giving away tons of free food around here. Much of it paid for by Covid bill that gave states millions for food. I need to stock up and much of it is decent product, meats and veggies.
