Russia can't move the men and material into that region without it being observed.

And their supply lines would be ungodly long.

I don't see it happening.

Re: Top Russian Official: Alaska Takeover Could Be Next
This is democracy vs autocracy.

It used to be capitalism vs communism but that was just a cover for what is really happening in the world since communism was never actually implemented anywhere or least the version of communism that Karl Marx wrote about. It was used as a cover for democracy vs autocracy. By artificially tying communism with autocracy, people learned over time that communism is bad... but communism and democracy can work together. It really is democracy vs autocracy. Democracy of people who want to go out to vote so they have a say in how a country is run.... and Autocracy - people who would prefer not to go out and vote and let their government make decisions for them.

Well, if that isn't drawing a line in the sand, then what is?

Biden and his administration of buffoons best not fuck around too much, poking the "bear," or Russia is going to bring their attack to our country....heh, and we'll watch his plummeting approval rating completely tank.

But our gov't is so in on its hubris. We've got nothing to worry about, right?....charlie

So...... what are you going to do Russia?

You can't even hold ground against a rent-a-army in Ukraine and you think you're going to fly, float over to Alaska and do what?

The logistics of a land war in Alaska is laughable.

China.... They have less than a chance to deploy to anywhere than Russia.

They may have a 200,000,000 man fighting force, but they have no way to deploy that force. At best they are a regional military power with high tech weaponry. But the reality is much worse. They are economically bankrupted and could even afford to fight a regional war. Their manufacturing base has all but collapsed, along with their social unrest due to lock-downs on their population.

Naa.. China is only going to fighting in their backyard not coming to Alaska to loose 200,000 men in the frozen tundra.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78658862

To what end...

What's the gain to nuke Alaska.

Not really a major population center up here. Yeah, Anchorage is our biggest city but in comparison to most large population cities in the lower 48 it's a minor city.

We do have two major military bases/post.

We do have the ground based interceptor missiles north of Fairbanks. but to be honest if ICBMs are to come into play, Alaska isn't even on the top 40 target sites.

All that aside, The question is... What is Russia / China going to do in Alaska if they could take it. It's not like they are going to magically start harvesting gold from them there hills, or go and pump more oil.

The equipment, man power, expertise and logistical supply lines that would need to be setup, maintained (through our 8 months of winter) and secured would be far more than they would incur in man power, supplies, and losses.

Naa.. It's just another propaganda feel good Russian media piece they put out to keep up the mighty Russia narrative.
