Are you sure you really needed to post a thread for that or is this a coded plea for help? Quoting: Mike6 Morton salt I believe is coated with some kind of silicate to prevent clumping. If she just bought straight up NaCl, I think it can harden into quite the rock. We used to get rock salt for the driveway and you would need to bust it up a little. Oh rock salt? Fuck rock salt. Quoting: JustmeTX [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] I bought one when I bought several pounds of Himalayan pink salt. I've seen those in the Spice Aisle at the grocery store. That's a particularly nice-looking one, I must admit. My issue is that I'll need one which will hold an entire cylinder of Morton's table salt which has welded itself together into a 26-ounce brick. Of course you need to break it up to get it into the grinder. a chisel or a heavy scraper should break it up easily enough. I would not put it through a coffee grinder as it is corrosive and will likely mess up the grinder. Then you will be asking how to grind coffee. :) Endtimewatchman1 |

Just keep adding a little water until all is dissolved. Pour resultant brine into SHALLOW dishes (Not Metal). Evaporate water, hair dryer or heat gun helps. Keep going until TOTALLY DRY. Then it becomes a simple matter to crush the thin sheets. Storing with a packet of Silica Gel stops this problem Stay well |

Well, I was checking my "stores" the other day, and realized that, because of the moisture in the air, all of my salt has solidified into one-pound cylinders capable of doing physical harm if dropped upon one's foot. Quoting: Eggcellently Deplorable Does anyone have any Helpful Hints about turning these "blocks" back into usable granulated salt (and keeping them that way)? I tried checking the Net and they just wanted to sell me more salt. Thanks in advance, and hope you're having a great 4th of July! Meat tenderizer hammer and a metal bowl and just chisel away at it, without making a mess. LOL! When I first read your reply, I thought you were saying "meat tenderizer" and thought "But meat tenderizer is probably much more expensive than salt!" But then I realized that you must have meant one of those little hammers with the bumps on the "business end". You did, didn't you? Put in a blender and add oxygen absorbers |
