Oh, FFS. These are not psychological disorders. They are brain disorders. Psychotherapy does NOTHING for a person with NPD or BPD.

A person with BPD has a chance at treatment with proper meds to treat the chemical imbalances that cause the cognitive and perceptual disruptions (delusions) and helps keep their emotional dysregulation, and thus their impulse and behaviors, in check. DBT helps rewire the brain and control disrupted thought processes.

You cannot talk people out of brain disorders any more than you can punish it out if them.

Those with NPD don't leave because the person with BPD is their supply and perceived slave. They live in a shared pathological fantasy world, and it is the true pathological co- dependency.

Both are mentally ill with physical/biological brain disruptions.

A psychiatrist and clinical DBT psychologist team with qualified experience treating BPD and other "personality" disorders is needed.

A clinical therapist qualified treating Cluster B disorders is a good place to start, but they must understand the biological components of the disorders. And for BPD, a therapist who treats with DBT is needed because it's the only treatment so far showing great efficacy because it rewires the brain.

Seek a team offering DBT for BPD treatment.

Otherwise for what is improperly labeled as "domestic violence", a qualified trauma team that includes a psychiatrist (to properly administer and manage meds, if needed) is a good place to start.
