The West can probably gain air supremacy but it would take time.

At the end of the day the West has way more planes than Russia has quality air defense systems and fighters. So even if it was just a matter of attrition the West wins.

Of course the West will leverage drones, cruise missiles, and stealth to try to not make it an attrition battle.
