Do the males sit on eggs? I didn't see any eggs breaking in all that kerfuffle. maybe those were fake eggs. I had a pair of wild peacocks that hung out in my yard and on my roof for a summer. I live next to a large expanse of woods. They were not any sort of a bother. A lot of animals like me. When I had a house in NJ out in the country, I would be splitting logs for the woodstove and a wild turkey or group of turkeys would stand a few feet away and supervise. Often one would perch on a tree stump. Someone's border collie would break free and decide my porch was where it lived. Horses, owls, hawks, whistle ducks, possums, racoons, rabbits, squirrels, all kind of critters. Maybe I should be an owl rancher or something. :) Justme |

Recently drove by a locked boatyard/marine service yard and there was a male peacock patrolling the area. I turned around in a gravel lot across the street and beeped my Road Runner horn. He made some skronky noises and flew up onto the chain link fence, then down and over by my car, and made lots of faces like he wished he could say something. He was very chill and came up very close to me. On a later visit, I saw he had at least 2 hens, and they are friendly, too. https://imgur.com/a/mDaX3kG Nothing shall be so certain as to permit confusion. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 55494326 United States 06/25/2022 11:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wrote an insurance estimate for a lady many years ago who lived on an island in Florida. Peacocks saw their reflection on the side of her car and attacked it. It looked like it had been in a hailstorm! They did over $5k worth of damage while she screaming inside the car. Even tore the mirror off. She would of been killed if she got out. Quoting: FightForGod! WOW People underestimate how vicious cute and pretty wild creatures can be. Silly twits that never leave their protected environments have idealistic unrealistic perspectives of the brutality of nature. |

One actor posted a disgusting video of a woman EATING live baby birds she found on the nest. One Korean landlord I had threw all the PROTECTED rare birds nests on the property. Guess what? The Adubon society were ACROSS THE STREET from that place. I reported her: of course, they did nothing about it! And this was pre-2020, pre-protect the minorities above decency and reason and logic era! Any wonder they get beat up by Blacks?! |

Both birds shoulda pinned her down, crows should have joined in and they ought to have pecked her entire face off! |

Only the hens do. He was just sitting there chilling. Since they lay in spring and the males are extremely aggressive in spring, he probably wasn’t protecting the eggs at all. I’ve never seen ours protect a nest but they will attack you like that the moment you get near them in the spring. The rest of the year they’re just curious and friendly. Peacock eggs shells are very hard, you really have to whack them to break them. You can gather them like she was trying to do without breaking them. Male peacocks in spring are complete assholes. I have to carry a metal trash can lid and a broom to protect myself from them when feeding and watering. Making sammiches great again! |
