Most Bug Out Bags don't have toenail clippers. Stew on that one. Quoting: Zer0Krash A copy of Country Living, Tarwells Camping, US Army Special Forces Medical Handbook, Thomas Glovers Reference, Glovers Pocket Handyman, and Black and Deckers Handyman are far more useful than a 1TB HDD full of military manuals. If you want a couple of books on basic small unit tactics and urban warfare, groovy. But, it's like medical skills, if you ain't got that knowledge in the practical sense, the books won't save you. Here are some facts that need to be addressed: 1. Civilian police and fire will quickly degrade, if not disappear. 2. Military will focus on the cities for weeks if not months. 3. A lot of the shit the uber tackta-kewls teach is just outright bullshit drawn from their own training, which in a lot of instances ain't worth a shit. Instead of spending 3K on a two-day "active shooter first aid" from Captain SuperNinja, spend 1K on a Basic EMT and go take the Wilderness and Remote endorsement. You'll be far better prepared. 4. Your neighbor was not in Delta Force, SEAL Six, or the Koga Ninja Clan. I have this problem right now. My SEAL faker neighbor saw me drilling on my private range with a cop buddy and BJJ buddy both of whom are former USMC and he is now convinced I am former Delta/SAD in spite of me openly stating: "I've NEVER been in the US Military! NOT A SINGLE DAY! Please stop saying that shit." Marine JROTC/ROTC does NOT count! To wit his delusional SEAL faker ass says, "That's what a former Spook would say." Hell, he can't even get his terminology right. 5. Most of the elite super ninjas won't last a month. They don't know how to survive without logistical support. SERE is 10-15 days and it doesn't cover how to fix a generator or plant food. And some Tier Ones acquire those skills, but a lot of the Tier Two units are heavy on logistical support. 6. Faith is more important than knowledge in some moments. Faith that God has a plan and will watch over you and give you strength is better than having a squad of Rangers behind you. PS-see rule 5. 7. You can survive. That is the most important thing to remember and better days will come. If not for you then for your children's children. The best of times are preceded by the darkest days. thanks for the "truth" post! . |

I have said basically the same things for a long time, but few people are smart enough to recognize the Truth when they see it. Most of the prepper and survival sites promote ideas that would require heavy logistical support or extensive training before hand to be able to pull the concept off. Yet they fail to mention this and fail to give it any attention or consideration. Some times I wonder if they are not active Dis- Info agents sent out to infiltrate and discourage those communities. But they are probably just Opportunists, playing on other peoples ignorance and lack of awareness of how the real world works. |

Having a large reserve of life sustaining resources increases your odds and comfort, bugging in and gray man prepping. Garden and small animals. Bugging out is going to suck! Leaving a lot of good shit behind! We have 2 locations both are 2-3 tanks of gas away 750 miles! Have close to enough fuel in storage to get us their in a few trucks with a lot of long term freeze dried food, Security items, a few small animals breading pairs. Some sprouting trays and seeds. That is the top of the list, all depends on timing! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72497887 United States 06/23/2022 10:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped keeping a bug out bag 7yrs ago. For 3yrs before that I spoke of the importance of toenail clippers, and toenail file/emery board in your kit. I do a lot of day hiking and camping and 11ish years ago I trimmed my toenails before a couple hour day hike. I did not file my nails as I am a Man and who needs that shit. My freshly trimmed toenail was sharp enough to cut through a Smartwool sock($17/pr) and then through the Gore-Tex membrane on a $280/pr of German-Made Meindl boots. I'm not making that mistake again. Fun fact: That pair of Meindl boots never leaked over the next two years even though it had a hole in the Gore-Tex membrane. |

Here in the Midwest, you are never out of range of a house or apt complex when "In the Woods". Better focus on URBAN SURVIVAL TACTICS as you are not going to run into a state forest and survive as there will be thousands doing the same. Learn CITY SURVIVAL. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83571022 Oh and dont forget that all of the "BLACK OP Operators" all have 300 blackouts. There are seven designated wilderness areas within an hour of me and outside those areas the population density is less than 10/sq mile. Any prepper with a brain knows bugging in is best so I am bugging in at home in this area. Surrounded by national forest to boot. If you live in a suburb or city, you are a retarded prepper. |

Who was it that always signed off at night on tv? And thought struggles against the results, trying to avoid those unpleasant results while keeping on with that way of thinking. Squatting on someone else's land somehow doesn't seem like a viable option to me. troungshixam |

There will be MANY, and I don't mean murdered. Just two weeks to a month without adequate food or water and many who rely on medicine, vitamins, food and water, and most elderly, sick and others requiring extra care and technology (basic electric) will be dead. Being that death is inevitable, I'll probably take a bong hit off the end of a 12 gauge at that point as I'm not interested in living in a world like that. |
