China would attack more than the carrier groups. China would attack the space satellites the US Navy relies on.

Most people don't realize how small anti-satellite weapons can be an still be lethal. A tiny limpet satellite mine with a charge about the size of an M-80 could disable any US satellite. A device small enough to fit inside a beer can. China has the tech to launch hundreds of them.
