Texas' new constitution could ban some things, especially any special treatment due to race, gender, SSI, religion, or political ideology. Things like affirmative action could be curtailed constitutionally.

They could also take back the classroom. Teachers could be strictly monitored, by video & audio...and the stream made available to...and only accessible by... both the parent and their kid logging in at the same time after school has let out, or if the kid necessarily needs to attend classes at home. That would certainly help with homework and involve the parent more.

When it comes to future pandemics, each individual should have the personal sovereign liberty to not wear any special clothing, or be restricted in any way from going about business as usual. Every man for himself during emergencies.

The "freedom of speech" right could be amended to curtail tyrannical censorship using distinctions, like "hate speech." Personal, physical threats of violence should still be considered illegal and not protected.

Texas seceding from the USA is a big gamble because the last time something like that happened, America torched itself. But there would be the opportunity to re-work their state constitution in the end. That would be a silver lining of sorts.
