Freemasonry as an organization is long past it's prime. No doubt in the 19th and particularly the first half of the 20th century, it was a club where businessmen and others quietly did deals behind the scenes. No doubt there are a few lodges that are still active, taking advantage of members connections.

But most lodges that still exist are just crusty old men who use it as a social gathering, to get out of the house and away from their nagging,domineering wives. They are little more than social clubs for men, who like fancy dress and enjoy some traditional childish rituals and a bit of feel-good charity work for the local community and sick kids.

As for the satanic nature of their "beliefs" this is just a residue of their secret-squirrels "cross-your-heart-and-hope-to-die" loyalty/hazing bullshit from the very early days when a club for master builders and stone cutters etc.

I am opposed to secret oaths, secret hierarchies and secret agendas. Having said that, higher level freemasons do get initiated into the mysteries. Because lessons show up when needed and able to be learned, it is only natural for there to be a hierarchy of knowledge and ability where the various steps cannot be skipped.

The problem I see is the world domination by the left hand schools which are service to self or to particular subgroups oriented. If right hand schools were more active, they would move the culture forward in a more collaborative way.
