Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.

Op, yes. More than usual over the last couple of years. It's as if my mind knows it has to accept it at some point so my subconscious keeps sneaking the thought up to the front of my mind.

I usually feel it most upon first awakening in the morning. Thoughts and feelings of death or dying.

Even the kids are beginning to question their mortality. Asking lots of questions of what happens when we die etc.

Yes I have!!!! and Im not old , I dwell on it a lot because many people my age that I know or went to school with or whatever have died in the last couple years. One died Tuesday fully vaxd, just sayin' of a particularly aggressive liver cancer. Diagnosed one month ago ,age 42.

For those of you who have been thinking about it more than typical, what do you think causes it?

Obviously, the way the world is spiraling has a lot to do with it, but I also wonder if we're being spiritually prepared by divine means.

I think it's just a natural progression we all go through as we age. The loss of loved ones seems to stimulate it.

I really think what I'm experiencing is more intense than natural thoughts on death. I wish I could explain it, but I can't find the right words for it. I'm a little frustrated that I can't adequately process it.
Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

So far I see I'm the only one the voted less than usual. My oldest son recently graduated from tech and highschool. My youngest is a star athlete. My wife and I have been on the same page more. I'm getting healthier in both body and mind through hard work and communication. While the World outside my doors sucks, a healthy and happy home has made life better.

I fall under the "not at all" category.

Take life one day at a time.

"The past is history. The future is a mystery. Today is a gift, and that's why we call it the present." Deepak Chopra

"There's nothing to do with a problem but see through it." Confucius

Hate to use such old quotes and sound cliché, but life is a journey, not a destination and you can constantly change your path if you don't like the direction you're heading.

Positive thinking works and surround yourself with likeminded people!

Have an AWESOME day EVERY day beginning today!

Nope. I have been born for the coming times and I know the end of my road is not yet reached.

Apart from that inner knowing of beeing here to witness certain things I simply don't worry, cause we don't really die anyway.

Don't be afraid of change...it's all just a game.

Ive had a triple bypass and 6 stents in the last 12 years so I never really feel safe, I drink alot and now Im having liver pains....it is what it is. Still pumping out 55 hours a week at a semi physical job. Paying my bills like a good little sheep till I go poof.
Im only 52, whats really scaring me is all my peers getting cancers and anuerisms in the past 6 months. Ive known a few people with cancer in my life, but like 6 active aggressive cancers in friends, 3 anuerisms and I have a reasonably small circle of friends.

Oh definitely. Not a fear of death, because I don't. Just trying to make plans for my estate since I want it to go where it is needed most.

I'm not at all surprised by the lopsided responses, the majority of us here are fully aware that where this country is being fast-tracked to can only end in death for most of us. So yeah, I'm feeling it quite often now.

I actually brought it up in a convo with a friend not long ago, said, "I'm not much longer for this world, I can feel it". He got royally pissed, thought I was being a defeatist which is far outside my norm. I'm not at all, I'm a true Realist, always have been.

Not at all a morbid topic OP, it's quite relevant now actually, thanks for being brave enough to put it out there.

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
Age must be a factor, I'm 62. It is said that the age of 33 is when people start thinking of their own mortality.

There does come an age where a person does a thing for the last time. As youngsters these things are often positives - part of maturing. The older a person becomes there are things that are no longer achievable like improving scores at the gym or running. Things get ever more difficult, the body gets weaker and stiffer, joints start hurting arthritis etc.

At some point the recognition that death is the only fix for ailments. This is the stage when older people no longer fear death, but see it as freedom from hardship.

Once youth has left, and there are no dependant children, life has relatively little meaning, days are just ticked off.

With age comes understanding. I know (believe) that my country (UK) is gone, as is the world. There is no way that the planet can sustain the growth of the past, which means an unimaginable adjustment needs to take place where few young people will need to take care of large number of elderly.

Anyone who has taken care of old people understand the time and effort required. If not, a Great Plague extinction event is the only other likelihood. But I have understood this since a child.

The world is so broken in general now, that it does seem we are coming to an end of sorts.

So much chaos has been created by tptb, I believe it signals the appearance of the 3rd Anti-Christ.

Ordo ab Chao!

At first the change it brings will be welcomed by most, a weary society seeking order turns to the promise of 'normality' it brings.

Sharia law will be welcomed as a means to purge society of it's ills and transgressions, but with it comes a determined persecution of Christianity and all it stands for.

These are the times of troubles, so those of faith are going to have to stand strong hf

I'm sure a lot of older folks may have the idea rolling around in their heads. I try not to think of death it will come soon enough.

During the plannedemic what was a eye opener was seeing folks in church running scared of dying seemingly begging to not die.
Taking the Shots/ masking up, quit going out of the house ordering food off line. Complete unadulterated Fear of dying!
As I saw dying/going to church was a means of Faith in (if your a believer?) in a higher power going to a better place with no need to fear death. Granted I'm in no rush to go toe tag anytime soon. You have to accept the facts we are all going to Die sometime.

5 for me OP this was thought provoking.hf

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
Just learned a childhood friend committed suicide yesterday. They were 48.

I have always yearned to be home with the Father, but even more so now. I am ready to be done with this meat suit and this crazy evil world.

I am 50 but for some reason I feel like God's going to keep me around, perhaps as a witness, or a warrior... maybe both.

I don't know. Every day we teeter closer to disaster. I am torn between wanting to be here to help others, or just being finished with the struggle and misery.

OP it's hard to put into words. How about "yes and no"?
hf

Yep. A Large mass death event is just about to occur world wide.

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
I've found lately that my mind and conversations have been increasingly on the topic of death.

I'll be going about my day and these thoughts sneak up on me. I don't feel terribly depressed or defeated. I just feel it's close.

For some reason, when I have that thought, it doesn't really worry me. I identify it, acknowledge it, and carry on. It goes away and comes back and so on.

I certainly am in no rush for it, but I'm not feeling the typical dread that I used to get when thinking about it. It's like maybe I've accepted it's coming.

I don't really know how to explain this properly. Let's discuss it.

Please?

I’m old, so thoughts of my own demise crop up occasionally, although not often enough to be intrusive. It has certainly been a more frequent occurrence since the pandemic began.

Let’s face it, we’ve all just been through 2-1/2 years of the fear factory telling us that we could sicken and die at any time, so it’s only natural that death will occupy people’s thoughts more than usual. Now that we have the possibility of nuclear war looming in the background, those feelings and thoughts can only intensify and become more frequent.
