Tyre Sampson, of Missouri, was found to be almost 100 pounds over the ride's 287 pound weight limit, according to the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office, which ruled his death an accident. Sampson's friends had previously said the teen who was 6 foot five inches had been turned away from other rides for his 383 pound size. Ride operators also reportedly adjusted his seat prior to the ride started to allow him to fit, authorities determined. Sampson was in Orlando with a friend's family for vacation and his size has been examined as a potential factor. An initial report by outside engineers hired by the Florida Department of Agriculture said sensors on the ride had been adjusted manually to double the size of the opening for restraints on two seats, resulting in Sampson not being properly secured. How does "a boy" weigh 383 lbs? Try the parents. They probably weigh the same. |

The same question; for the operators of the ride. Didn't they recognize when someone was too large for the ride? I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

The parents for creating such a problem. The ride operators for not noticing anything amiss. The owners for not training their workers, and I lived in Orlando, I'm certain they weren't paying these workers either. If your employers don't respect you or the job itself, why would you? |

A 14 year old kid died horrifically, but let's all crack jokes cause he was obese and black. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79017631 Equally as stupid is those failing to realize he was 6' 5". Being that tall and average build will easily push you to 250lb, much higher if muscular or even a little out of shape for their height. his BMI was probably lower than most the low IQ child death celebrators in this thread. But again, he was black, that's the root of the issue here. The kid got what's coming right? While I agree with your sentiment about some of the comments, the weight limit on the ride was 287 lbs. He, on the other hand, weighed 383 lbs. Even at 6’5”, that gives him a BMI of 45+, deep into the morbidly obese category. His picture alone confirms it was not all “muscle.” Sad all around. |

Quoting: A MAN OF FLESH AND BLOOD 83492714 The obese are repulsive. It used to be physical, as I grow older its the excess input they take in. How many children could have lived off of what this one was eating? He would be a human black hole his entire life. I havent even taken a vacation in 14 years. So much excess all around me. I care very little for those who have been given so much. Whoever strapped him in did the world a favor. If you feel like blaming someone for his weight, blame his parents. How are they sleeping ? The authorities have to know who they are and are withholding the information for their safety. Pure stupidity and negligence. Whoever they are, they deserve some sort of penance. Maybe not prison, but a fine and community service of some type. The Uppers in charge will pay out millions. It was a completely preventable death. Tomfoolery |
