Nearly drowning in a swimming Pool.

I had just learned how to swim as a Child. And got a bit to bold and ventured in to the deep end one day.

for some reason i Started to panic because no one was around.

Thank fuck some random Man who was with his Kids saw what was happening. Swam over and saved me.

Never forgot that Man. He literally saved my life. My heart was thumping and I was swallowing half the Pool.

On the plus side I learnt a healthy respect of water :-)

Reminds me of the time my Dad saved me when I got my legs stuck in a hazel bush

I was hanging upside down and couldn't breath from the sheer panic of it all

But He still heard me calling out

He was there like flash

I remember crying in Kindergarten because I didn't know what my last name would be anymore.

In my case, yes. I haven't told anyone in probably 30 years. People tend to judge you when they find out. It kinda felt good to anonymously get it off my chest.

3 or 4 years old, walked with my mom across the courtyard in our apartment complex and up the stairs to her friends apartment.

Knock, no answer...

My mother didn't feel right so she opened the door.

He was hanging in his living room above a downed chair.

I didn't fully understand at that time.

She's still batshit fucking crazy and refuses to believe anyone but her is a victim in her life. She's gone full "ally" with the LGJdkeufbYQ whatever alphabet kids and spends her time with her "new" family claiming we abandoned her but she never shows to functions. When she did, she was asked to get off her cell phone and she got so mad she left. She'll be 40 this year.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that.

It's unfortunately way too common.

I work for the legal system and the hardest thing to do is sit a jury on a molestation case.

It can take days to seat a panel because 90% of the town's population has been the victim of sexual abuse.

Young men, old men, young women, old women -- it's been happening for decades and decades and my god, it has to stop.

You are not alone.

I'm good, had a average middle class life. Raised on a farm, married, had 5 kids and now I'm semi retired with grandkids everywhere.

My brother is still an idiot who I don't have anything to do with. It's better for me to be free of him.

I don't make a secret of my trauma how else do you fit pieces together to find cause and effect? No, not hiding it is the point of fixing yourself, I have nothing to be ashamed of, so why hide it? By saying and speaking it this clears it up for some others. I have no repeating dreams today, thankfully, because I do talk about it with others I know, or even if they ask it doesn't bother me. I prefer to forgive, because not doing so makes it worse for you, by it also punishing you. I leave it to others to work on themselves. You never know if your story will help others, others here who are speaking of it can let part go by writing it out then burning and forgiving plus if it is about a loved one dying know they do not die, they live and if a child at the time of death here, it guaranteed they are alive forever. They are also alive in your memories of them, remember the good times and laughter if you can bring those to mind, that are the true memories of this loved one. Don't allow the bad to overtake the good loving memories, so next time those memories flair up, think of some other memory that was happy with them.

God Bless

I was 3. Had an ear tag. I remember being held down on the hospital bed, lime green walls, and the med team shoving a black mask over my face to put me out.

Re: What's your earliest traumatic memory?
I was around 3. Standing in my mother's chicken run, just dawdling around like a spazzy kid. Then this really horrible feeling came over me and i blacked out. Now that im much older, i know those feelings were despair, and snfer, and hopelessness. When i "woke up" i was in another part of the chicken run and there was a dead chicken laying at my feet. I remember it had one drop of blood coming from one of its eyes. I was horrified. I love chicken, all poultry and birds really. I knew i did not do this. Traumatised i went into the house, the lounge, sat down and took off my sandals. I put them on the mantel piece gor some reason. Just sat there. A bit later my mom barged into the lounge and proceeded to beat the shit outa me. That bit didn't faze me, even then i was used to getting beaten, it was pretty much a daily thing with her. But i was so saddened at the thought that she just assumed i'd killed the chicken.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79546208

Interesting question. I do not whittle, but I do work with wood. I have a woodshop. I mostly make small furniture and specialty items by request. Most recently, an all cedar display box with a glass door for an urn. It was for a woman who's twin sister who died within 6 months of being diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The inside back of the box is cork. I included a small drawer in the base for her to store pictures. She can then tack pictures behind the urn, and change them out as she likes. Also a small LED on top.

It was not part of her request. I just thought it would be a nice touch. When she saw it she looked at me, and hugged me for a while while sobbing and whispering "thank you". I was honored to have helped her.

When our dog died when I was five. Some neighbor poisoned him with anti-freeze because he supposedly barked too much. He admitted to doing it- I thought my Dad would beat him to death. It became one of those potentially deadly neighbor feud type things. The man wound up dying less than a year later with a brain tumor.

I got bullied really bad by a group of "mean girls" in junior high and it was emotionally traumatizing to me.
