I'd caution against too much doom as was the case in the big Cumbre Viejo thread last September. Many fearful people may have done things, like pack up and move when they didn't need too, or worse. At a minimum I know from following that thread many lost a lot of sleep watching the volcano which is bad for one's health. Admittedly this is different. That said Charles Hapsgood is primarily responsible for the modern idea of a physical pole shift. However, this theory lacks merit for all the global archaic monuments use solstice and equinox sunlight as they were designed and built to long ago, debunking any physical pole shift in past cataclysms (solar micro-novas). The solar micro-nova event is a lot worse than simply the sun expanding and becoming over-active. This is very bad but there are many other things to consider also. Plate tectonics is something we don't fully understand. IMO, Earth's past solar micro-events were really stressful for mother Earth. She expanded and this expansion left expansion scars on the ocean floor and along fault lines above the oceans. This is why we have so many EQ's and volcanic activity - she hasn't completely settled down.
