My daughter and husband have an annual Kentucky Derby party. They started around 2018. It gets bigger and better each year. Lots of fun! Their decorations are awesome! Their friends in Colorado will be having a Belmont Stakes party today.

I think they say the fastest couple of minutes in sports.

I grew up around horses and rode in horse shows and went to a horse race in Pa. with a lady friend. Knowing nothing about the horses I saw one and told her that looks like a fast one. Me being cheap I put two bucks on it. It came in first. She was amazed and I didn't win much but it was fun anyway.

The thing that set Secretariat apart is that he could just sort of lounge back in like 6th place and then start meandering up and then run off and leave the whole pack behind.

He would win and make it look lazy. He was in a completely different class. Honestly.

The race is still about 3 1/2 hours away but the live stream is showing old reruns that are interesting.

I'll have to blame my mother for getting me into horse racing at an early age as she thought herself something of a picker and always closely followed the racing season.

She was a Christian lady in every respect right up until she would enter a horse racing track. Then she turned into a gambling crazy woman screaming at horses all while wearing a carnation hat and a dress.
