Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77391584 We can't own land in UAE, Saudi, or many other countries, why should they be able to buy here? Good question. Why is there never reciprocity. Same with all the illegals coming to our countries. If I want to get a visa to live in one or the other African countries (and not only) they will not give it to me. Yet we accept their people, illegals, and they get perks and free medical care for them and their children. Saudis and UAE can buy everything they want. Why are we selling out to them?? Most of the landmark legacy hotels in Paris are owned by Saudis and Qatar they have them managed by luxury hotel chains. UAE are buying top prime real estate. I came. I saw. I Concorde. For once you have tasted Concorde you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return. Quoting: pool That dairy company, named Almarai, bought the farm last year and has planted thousands of acres of groundwater-guzzling alfalfa to make that hay. Saudi Arabia can’t grow its own hay anymore because those crops drained its own ancient aquifer. Reporter Nathan Halverson tells NPR’s Renee Montagne that Almarai bought about 15 square miles in the Arizona desert. “They got about 15 water wells when they purchased the property. Now, each one of those wells can pump about 1.5 billion gallons of water. It’s an incredible amount of water they’re going to be drawing up from that aquifer underground,” Halverson says. The land in question had previously been under cultivation for corn, cotton and other crops, including smaller amounts of alfalfa for hay, he tells The Salt. Halverson’s sources told him that the farm is now consuming significantly more water, since alfalfa is a particularly thirsty crop. ...we see a sign for a company from United Arab Emirates, Al Dahra, and we realize that another company has come out here and essentially replicated the exact same thing. They are growing hay. They are using the groundwater. And they are shipping it overseas — in this case, we were told, to China. First, because water is an abundant resource on planet Earth. Second, Saudi Arabia (and China) borders two coastal strips. Third, the energy cost of extracting water from a region of Arizona to transport to Saudi Arabia (or China one) is much more expensive than using existing desalination technology. Do people nowadays no longer know the laws of thermodynamics and Lavoisier's laws? Last Edited by Ferinha Neném on 07/05/2022 06:09 PM |

You can't have this kind of system. Neither the left nor the right protect the nations. You actually have to have strong protective laws, not selling farms to huge monopolies and rich arseholes like Blackrock and Gates, or foreigners, and not allowing foreigners to buy all your resources and sell them off, in this giant free for all, free enterprise without rules. You also have to have price control on all necessities like Norway had for decades and maintained highest standard of living in the world, strong economic business models, both right and left combined. But their housing food and utilities were priced down low as necessities, not investments so people OWNED houses, the working poor OWNED houses. And you can't have exploitative government and banks who keep interests down, get everyone to buy then crash the system, and raise interest and steal everyone's belongings and homes. FUCK THAT. Strong rules and prison for exploiters with assets protected! The Devil tries to convince everyone he doesn't exist. The state tries to convince everyone they cannot resist. Do not go quietly into the good night. Rage Rage against the dying light! |
