Have You Noticed Fewer Cars On the Roads? I Haven't
One would think with $5.00 gas, fewer joyriders, casual shoppers, visitors and old dolls just driving around "going out to eat"(My weef's one of these) There would be a lot less traffic.... But I don't see it yet...?

One thing i would say you might see fewer old cars on the road. Poor people drive older cars and they're the hardest hit by %5.00 gas. I see newer cars on the roads, i mean newer than mine. '07 Ford Escape which i paid $4900. for.

I went into town yesterday mid-morning. It's not suppose to be busy and it was like rush hour.

Re: Have You Noticed Fewer Cars On the Roads? I Haven't
I live in a resort community in North Central Washington, and I can tell you, fewer tourists are making the 2.5 hour drive from the Puget Sound area, i.e Seattle-Tacoma area, to our community.

Specifically, I am not seeing as many pickups, hauling travel trailers, but the number of high-end buses, has increased.

There is also not as many kids in the 18-24 age group that used to be here right about now, as High School and College ends for the Summer.

It's kinda of nice not to have to hunt for a parking place on the main drag but the tourist dollar is very important to the community, and it's having an impact, a negative one....on small businesses.

No, sadly.

Traffic seems to be picking up for the summer, actually.

Still see lots of people rolling in suburbans and excursions.

Possibly, but I believe that much of this is due to
the underground economy, which includes drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering from these and many more criminal activities. Many people where I am at in the USA do not have credit cards, don't seem to work and have no children yet they keep driving like no tomorrow, my guess is money from criminal gang activities.

Me neither.

Miles long traffic jams just like when gas was $1.49 under Trump.

The beginning of Covid eliminated a great deal of traffic. Many lost their jobs and others quit searching. Traffic seems lighter to me than two years ago.

the lines at the pumps are longer than when gas was cheap

maybe everyone is just putting $20 in to get by

that way they have to get gas everyday.

Re: Have You Noticed Fewer Cars On the Roads? I Haven't
I have to drive to work. I have to drive kids to school. I have to drive to grocery store. In the end, you stop spending money on the extra things. Transportation is probably one of the highest priority expenses. Once people stop driving, and aren’t being compensated in some way, that’s when it all falls apart. Because that means people aren’t going to work, aren’t getting paychecks, and businesses shutdown due to lack of employees.

Peoria IL metro area, 200K folks. Traffic is heavy even like at 1-2pm. And they all seem to be going somewhere fast..... Peoria IL, known for Caterpillar, Pabst Beer and Hiram Walker liquor. But they're gone, Caterpillar, now minor presence. But the traffic is still fierce...

Im at the Great Smoky Mountains and there is no change in traffic unless its slightly higher. Normal vacation shenanigans everywhere. Tons of cash being spent around here.
