"A Palm Beach County Democrat is facing federal charges for making threats against Lauren Boebert. Local officials say Matthew Lee Comiskey made several posts on Twitter threatening violence against Boebert, including “I got my second amendment tool all ready to destroy Lauren’s face. Hopefully in front of her kids.”

“Someone needs to put Lauren down like a sick dog,” Comiskey also wrote. “Since the CIA is a failure and the FBI is incompetent at charging her for being a terrorist, it’s time to do it ourselves. Pew, pew, Lauren.”

Information about the defendant, other than his name, was not available Friday afternoon.

Comiskey appeared Friday before U.S. Magistrate Ryon M. McCabe, charged with five counts of making online, interstate electronic threats. Each count carries a maximum prison term of five years.

Arraignment is set for Wednesday at the federal courthouse in West Palm Beach.
