In a rocket engine, the explosion in the combustion chamber pushes equally in all directions, but on one side there is an exhaust port and which allows no pressure to build up, which means that there is an equal force pushing against the forward bulkhead to push the rocket forward. The force out the back of the engine is NOT what pushes the rocket. It is the force on the forward bulkhead or what effectively serves as such that propels the rocket engine forward. In space, either small (probably liquid) rocket burners or compressed gas ports allow for positioning of the craft by the very same forces. How does this work since same side of the moon is always visible, but changes based on where you are on earth? Where did we get pictures of the dark side of the moon from? What's that reflector that's up there that can be used by anyone in view to measure the distance from earth using a laser(I've done this because I'm just that nerdy). |

Worked in military weather and we would take “strips” of weather photos from a plane and splice them together to give you the “globe view” you would see of weather. Those images were downloaded from the planes when they passed over certain relay antennas. |

I spent most of my aerospace career in Downey, CA at the Shuttle plant. I had excursions to Northrop, General Dynamics, and Raytheon.
