Thanks Astro! It's crazy how all that "stuff" is just floating around aimlessly in a "vacuum"!!! Thank God we have you instead of common sense!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82993073

Physics doesn't care what your "common sense" tells you. The source code is right here.

Yes, even in the vacuum of space you will find trace amounts of gas. If you don't see the obvious pressure differential between the gas surrounding the planet and the space around it, I really can't help you.
 Quoting: Astromut

Now do the moon!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82993073

The moon doesn't have an appreciable atmosphere, what's there to "do?"
 Quoting: Astromut

Wait, did it float away? Like sucked up in a vacuum?

solar powered fans, no one is on that tin bucket
 Quoting: Simonleluk

No fans and traveling at too high of an altitude and velocity to be an aircraft of any kind.

Yes, there are people in it.

Where does this giant vacuum suck to and why does it only suck invisible gases?

Ah, so you want me to run a simulation of how quickly atmosphere would be depleted with 1/6th the surface gravity of earth and with no magnetosphere to block solar wind? Sure, I can do that. Doing so will require significant computational time on my PC though, and I will be charging you by the hour for that. How would you like to pay?

Gas expanding in a vacuum does no work. Hence no thrust.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80555854

Not quite. You are referring to Joules-Thompson Expansion but you are incorrectly applying it. It only applies to CLOSED systems. Gas expanding in space does just fine.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80141479

Who carried out the scientific experiment that proves a rocket will work in a vacuum?

A scientific explanation of how thermal energy is converted to kinetic energy by interaction with a vacuum is required. "Gas expanding in space does just fine"- what sort of science is that?

Exhaust gases expanding into space will warm the vacuum up a little. That's what thermal energy does.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82217427

Joules-Thomson applies in a closed system because you can only have a vacuum in a closed system on Earth. Since space is a vacuum according to NASA it applies the same as in a closed system on Earth.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80555854

Wrong. You're saying that in a THOUGHT experiment that no one ever thought about applying it in an open system? Really?

Bet you can't find ONE reference applying it to a non closed system. I'll wait.

Not true. I've tracked ISS myself and live streamed it.

If you get a sufficiently powerful laser pointer and a night pass near 90 degrees altitude, you can shine your laser at ISS and it will indeed show up on stream.

 Quoting: Astromut

so you can point your little laser pointer at a helium balloon they are telling us is the ISS, that's nice. the cgi images of earth that are supposedly broadcast from the ISS are made at NASA. LIES all of bullshit
 Quoting: Simonleluk

Must be a pretty neat helium balloon when you can prove it is about 400 km up and moves in precise, predictable patterns around the world every 90 minutes. /s
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80141479

solar powered fans, no one is on that tin bucket
 Quoting: Simonleluk

400 km up and moving around the Earth every 90 minutes. Air pressure decreases as you go up. How much air are those supposed fans moving at 400 km? Thanks for the humor!

ANYONE can prove it is about 400 km up just like these guys did.

In order to have a pressure differential between space and earth, there would need to be a solid barrier.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37645337

Wrong. You have a pressure gradient. There is no pressure next to a vacuum.

With their narrative...there is none.

You cannot have the vacuum of space next to a pressurized atmosphere.
The vacuum would deplete our atmosphere and equalize pressure.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37645337

We don't. We have a pressure gradient where the pressure decreases until it becomes a vacuum. At no point is there a vacuum next to a pressurized atmosphere. And vacuums don't suck.

A space suit would be blown up tight like a balloon to the point one could not move.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37645337

Or engineers would design suits that resist expansion and allowed movement. The forces involved are the same as designing a suit that can be pressurized just a few psi above Earth sea level pressure as they typically use partial pressures in the suits, about 5 psi IIRC. They're not as stupid as you seem to think they are.

Air conditioning is not possible in space. 25 years doing hvac here.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37645337

Good thing they don't use air conditioning then. They use large radiators to radiate excess heat into space and ice sublimators. Why didn't you already know that?

Water does not curve around a ball end of story. It always finds its level. High altitude pressurized balloons, undersea cables, and cell towers run GPS and communications. "Space is fiction created to rob you and distract you from the real reality of our God created realm.

NASA isn't asking me to run any such computations. You are. You are the only one I see making such demands for something that isn't trivial to compute, and I do not see it as worthwhile content for my channel since it's such a niche request from a nobody, so you get to pay for it. How would you like to pay?

OUCH! so hurt by the shill on the internet calling me a nobody :( Don't you care about science???? Guess ill just have to stick to common sense and not GLPbot "simulations"
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82993073

Your choice to remain an AC. If that offends you, get an account. Again, I do care about science, that's why I do science and that's why I'm offering to run the simulation you requested. You need to reimburse me for the considerable computational time it will take to run it. Your sense of entitlement to my hardware does not dictate reality. How do you want to pay for the service you requested of me?

You don't care about Jack, except your NASA paycheck, you fuckin' sell-out!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83436063

Oh I do very much care about science, that's why I do scientific research with NASA. The paycheck is nice, but I could honestly find a much better paying job elsewhere if I wanted to.

I'm not the one calling others shills because you have no other argument.

For the record, I have never here nor on any other site been paid or in any way compensated to post on any subject. Got any other logical fallacies?

For the record, I never asked. You are dumb. Is that logical or nah?

can we get a simulation of the likely hood of shills being in glps orbit creating an atmosphere of stupidity and whether or not it is sustainable. Then do the moon if you still have any left over cash

I wouldn't know. I've never been employed by NASA. Did you forget what I said just a few posts back already? How sad.

Just calling it like I see it. You've quickly forgotten about any actual arguments and are just slinging insults. What you you call that if not trolling?
